I saw in the post below that your DH just bought a Patriot. How do you guys like it so far? We have looked into those, but haven't really talked to any "real" owners.

Re: *hopeblue*

  • We like it so far.  It's sensitive.  We got our first snow last week so it was really cold outside.  H got in to go to work and he had a light on.  It took a little while to figure what the light meant b/c it was just (!). It has tire sensors on it, so when your tire pressure is a little low, the light comes on.  He pumped them up and the light went out.  The front dash takes a little getting used to.  It's good on gas.  It handles really well so far.

If you have any specfic questions just ask.

  • How long have you owned it? My car now has tire sensors and they are a pain. Plus the tires themselves have been very sucky. I am really concerned with the tires in general because I had a blowout at only 10,000 miles and found that the treads were worn down to nothing already.

How roomy is it? Can you ride comfortably for long distances. My aunt has an older boxy style jeep cherokee and it has zero leg room. Even up front you can't stretch your legs out.

  • We just got it last month.  The person before us went out and put custom rims on it with new tires.  The tires right now are very new.  H is thinking about putting on snow tires b/c the tires now are just all seasons.  He wants to see how it handles in the snow before he changes them.  No other problems with the tires so far.  It has been down in the 30's in the mornings and the tire sensor has not been back on.  I would have to say so far that the tires were just low.

I think it has lots of room.  The next weekend after we bought it; we drove to south bend, IN.  We took H's cousin and girlfriend to a football game.  That is about a 7 hour drive one way for us.  They really liked the back seat.  They would curl up with each other and go to sleep.  This is the first car that H doesn't have to have the seat back all the way.  He is 6' tall.  I sat in the back when we first got it and my only complaint is that the seat end hit in the upper part of my thigh instead of more towards the middle.  It didn't feel normal.  We also had 4 bags in the back plus a regular size cooler and we still had more room for stuff.

  • Sounds great so far! If I think of anything else I will def. be asking. Thanks!
