Favorite Christmas Movies
I was just reading the christmas traditions post, and someone mentioned watching movies and I was just wondering... what are some of your favorite Christmas movies?
For me, I really loved LOVE ACTUALLY and THE HOLIDAY. Don't know why I capitalized those.
Re: Favorite Christmas Movies
christmas vacation
prancer
charlie brown's christmas
ETA: the grinch who stole christmas
The Santa Clause, Miracle on 34th Street (1994), Borrowed Hearts, A Christmas Story, Christmas with the Kranks, The Christmas Card
I love both of those movies, but think of them as movies that happen around the holiday, not so much Christmas movies. Maybe it's just me.
I have so many 'favorite' Christmas movies that it is crazy.
The Bishop's Wife (and The Preacher's Wife, but not as high on my list)
White Christmas
Miracle on 34th Street (any version, but the original is my fav)
Muppet Christmas Carol
Scrooged
The Nightmare Before Christmas
The Santa Clause (I even like the sequels)
The Twelve Dogs of Christmas
The Grinch
Jack Frost (The Michael Keaton/Kelly Preston movie)
The Best Chrismas Pageant Ever
Christmas in Connecticut (the Dyan Cannon one is kind of stupid, but we like both)
One Magic Christmas (DHs fav)
Elf
Christmas Every Day
Holiday Affair (both versions)
A Christmas Romance
The Christmas List
There are a ton more.... I didn't even mention the cartoon and stop action ones like Santa Clause is Going toTown. I love Christmas movies.
We also have what we call 'stealth Christmas' movies, that are movies that have Christmas in them, but the movies aren't really about Christmas. We have rules about not watching Christmas movies until Thanksgiving night or the next day (unless they are on tv before, then it is fair game), but the stealth movies are allowed any time. Like Meet Me in St Louis, Sleepless in Seattle, The Little Shop Around the Corner, The Apartment (although we watch it on NYE, since that's where the movie ends), Lady and the Tramp... there are more, but I'm drawing a blank.
White Christmas
The Santa Clause
National Lampoons Xmas Vacation
Elf

I love all of these.
Plus I enjoy watching The Christmas Story at least once. Any of the traditional Christmas cartoons I enjoy "watching" or playing in the background while I'm wrapping gifts/baking. I like Home Alone, I'll Be Home for Christmas, Charlie Brown's Christmas and others.
My H insists that The Ref is a Christmas movie bc it's that time of year in the movie, so I guess it too lol.
Elf
Home Alone
The Grinch who stole Christmas
I've never seen The Holiday or Love Actually so maybe those will be on our list of movies to rent this year!
The Christmas List
Deck the Halls
Christmas Vacation
Anything they play on ABC Family during December!
I've actually never seen A Christmas Story or Miracle on 34th Street. I'm excited to go see the new Christmas Carol this year.
