I am mailing some3 books to a friend across the country. Is UPS or Fedex cheaper?

I'm thinking the cheapest is actually USPS...media mail since they are books.

I ship media mail for work all the time and as long as you don't need it there really fast, media mail is your cheapest rate

I went to the post office to ship a package, and asked for media mail at the post office and was told that is no longer an option/they dont do it anymore.

I super puffy heart the flat rate boxes at the USPS. I have sent sooo many packages over to my brother in Iraq and also lots of cans of Skyline to a friend in Florida for much cheaper than if I had used my own box and shipped it normally. They have several different sizes and even let you use all their tape! haha

They probably lied to me.  In the past, they have always tried to sell me more expensive services than I need (prob bc Im a woman, and they think Im dumb?)
