Ugly Christmas Sweater Party

I am having an Ugly Christmas Sweater party this year and wanted to know if any of you have ever been to one/had one?  I am sending out invites and asking the guests to wear ugly Christmas Sweaters.  The ugliest one gets the prize!

Couples will be invited and no children.  Do you all have any ideas for food/activities that will be good?  TIA!

Re: Ugly Christmas Sweater Party

  • This makes me think of Bridget Jones :)

I'd serve retro appetizers and lots of holiday cookies.

  • I went to one last year and we are hosting one this year! The pics were super funny! A group of the guys also decided to grow 80's mustaches. Talk about hillarious!!!!

That's great!!!  What kind of food will you serve??

  • Retro appetizers would be great! Popular 1980s cocktails would be a good fit, too. You could even play it up with 1980s hair, etc.

  • Eggnog! And we had Christmas Vacation playing on the TV. Made these cupcakes from bakerella also.

  • Have everyone bring a wrapped ornament & play dirty santa, the more people, the more fun.

  • I've always wanted to host one of these.  Have a great time!
  • Love the cupcakes!

Maybe you could make a set of gingerbread cookies that are "sweater" shaped and hand out frosting, sprinkles, etc for everyone to decorate.

Award prizes for the ugliest or the cutest or the person that can imitate their own sweater the best.

    Hope is not a strategy.
  • My friend had one of these a few years ago.  It was a blast.  I got my sweater at a thrift shop and added battery operated lights (velcroed the battery packs on the inside).  I got second place!!!
