Have you planned your Thanksgiving menu yet? Are you excited to host this year?
Re: **CT**
lol, i am looking forward to it - to be honest, I always prefer to host b/c i get to pick the food and spend the holiday in my own home! That and hosting holidays seems to be more of a chore or hassle for everyone else in my family, so moods are better when we host
I dont know that the menu 100% planned but we've been talking about it quite a bit. There will be the traditional items: turkey (apple cider brine), stuffing, mashed potatoes, broccoli spinach caserole, ginger carrots, cranberry sauce, corn, and mini pumpkin pies.
other things i'm considering are:
- cranberry relish
- some type of apple cider/holiday punch
- apple crisp
- homemade potato rosemary dinner rolls
- something w/ sweet potatos
- some type of grain side dish like toasted barley or couscous
- not to mention i'm TBD on all the appetizers....
and whatever other recipe i come across between now and thanksgiving
Are you hosting or cooking this year?

I wish we were hosting! After last years debacle I am wary of T-day. Plus, I would rather make my own food and set my own pretty table. Maybe next year.
The rolls sound so good. I saw a rosemary bread dough that was braided into small wreaths and placed on everyone's plate, stunning!
We do butternut squash soup served in mini lions head toureens and I make mini cornbread rounds set on a faux fall leaf to go alongside. It's a small portion so there is room for everything else but makes a nice start to a meal.
You could try a sweet potato spoon bread. Easy to make and serve. You could also try a sweet potato pie or mashed sweet potatoes with brown butter and sage.
I love the idea of a holiday punch. Martha has a ton of recipes for such things. I think I saw a good one last night, I'll check.
There are a bunch of great wild rice sides you can try if you aren't loving the cous cous/barley options
Sorry that got so long, I just love this holiday! If you need any recipes or to brainstorm let me know.
Wow that sounds good...
And WOW that sounds stressful! I like to eat, not cook.
thanks for the suggestions! I love the idea of the braided wreath-bread....i might just have to tuck away that fab idea for christmas.
isnt it amazing what a different place you are in this year compared to last? I can appreciate that its not exactly where you expecte to be, but amazing nonetheless. so much happens in a year! i hope this thanksgiving you find yourself surrounded by warm laughter, good food, and lots of baby kisses
