Fun stuff near the Silverton.

My husband, in-laws and I are going to be in Vegas for the Nascar races at the end of Feb. The rest of my group is going to be doing the race thing all weekend. I can only handle so much racing so I will only be going  to the big race on Sun. We will be there Thur. night through Mon. morning and I'm going to have a lot of free time. We are staying at the Silverton.

I am hoping it's warm enough to spend some time by the pool, and obviously I'll do some gambling. Any ideas of fun stuff to do by myself in that area? I could travel further, it will just be more convenient if it's close to the Silverton. Any good spas in the area? Any other ideas? I'm pretty open.

Thanks all

Silverton is just off of Las Vegas Boulevard, so you aren't far from the strip.  There's a great outdoor shopping area with stores and restaurants called Town Square.  It's on the strip about a 10 minute drive from Silverton.  You should see if there are any concerts in town the weekend you are at the Silverton.  Not sure if you like country music, but they usually have a band or two playing at the Silverton that weekend.

Further south on the strip is the Southpoint.  They have a fun piano bar and a decent spa.  Oh, and you are pretty close to Red Rock, too.  Just take Blue Diamond away from Las Vegas Boulevard for about 7 miles.  The turn off to Red Rock is on your right.  It's a great place to hike or just drive through--amazing scenery.

If  you don't have a car you should really think about renting one.  And plan to leave for the race early--traffic is a NIGHMARE.  It will take you at least an hour to get back to your hotel, probably more.

  • I was going to recommend Town Square, too! I work there and there is your typical shopping along with quite a few really good restaurants. They are opening a piano bar in the near future. I am not sure of an open date, but I would guess it would be open by the time you are here. There is also a spa at Town Square, Eleven. However, I am not sure of the prices. Red Rock is great if you can make the drive. You really aren't far from the heart of the strip like m+j said.
  • Also the M Resort is pretty close to the Silverton, the spa there is pretty nice as it is a brand new casino.
