Thanksgiving desserts?

What do you make, or like to see on the dessert table for Thanksgiving (besides the usual pumpkin pie) ?

Re: Thanksgiving desserts?

  • My mom makes the most delicious ambrosia salad. I look forward to it every year. That and candied yams!

  • My mom makes the best cherry cheesecake for Thanksgiving!  My grandma usually makes fruit pies, apple, cherry, blueberry and raspberry being the most common.  There are always at least 2 kinds of cookies to try.  Usually various family members bring over different homemade desserts in the week before the big day.  We always have a ridiculous amount of desserts at family occasions.

  • My Mom's fudge, Aunt Lori's Chocolate pie, Magic Bars, cheesecake, Pumpkin pie of course, and assorted cookies
  • our family is tradtional all the way.

Pumpkin pie, apple pie & mincemeat pie.

  • We always have an apple pie as well. When my Grandma was alive she would make me a peanut butter ice cream pie.

I made a pumpkin cheesecake last year that was a big hit.

  • Thanksgiving:  I have found that most in my extended family prefer traditional desserts like pumpkin pie, apple pie, mincemeat pie and pecan pie.

In my immediate family (Mom, Dad, Sister, hubby and kids) we like to have non-traditional like pumpkin mousee, apple-caramel cheesecake, Pecan Date Pie, and something chocolate.

Since I've been married I have made a pumpkin roll every year as it's my husband's favorite and my dad will usually make molasses cookies or sometimes another berry pie.

  • Definately pumpkin, apple and pecan pie.  But my mother in law makes this amazing cheesecake with this apple topping, absolutely delicious!  I make the pecan pie off the karo bottle and it comes out great.  Also, for apple pie, I buy the red pillsbury box with already made crust and follow that recipe.  It always comes out great!  I love the holidays!  Oh, I make pizzeles too!
  • On my side of the family we just do the pumpkin pies.  I remember one year we made another type of pie or two, and no one ate them, just the pumpkin, so now that's all that we make so that we have more of what everyone wants.

At the in-laws, they do pumpkin, banana cream, and chocolate cream pies.

  • I think this year I will try to make sweet potato pie.
  • We always have a pecan pie with chocolate chips (also known as Derby pie), red velvet cake, pumpkin gooey butter cakes (Paula Deen's), caramel apple pie, and a key lime pie.
  • we do all pies, pumpkin, apple, lemon merange (spelled so wrong) and usually a pecan.
