I saw your post on another board about restaurants in Seattle.  Did you find any that you would recommend?  DH and I are going to Seattle and Vancouver in 2 weeks and are planning out restaurants and places we want to visit.  Also, any other recommendations that you might have about things to do?  Thanks!

  • Hi!  we just got back last night and we had a blast.  We were only in Seattle for one day. We went to Pike's Market which was fun.  We also did a one hour harbor cruise which was cool to get a short tour of the bay there.  If we had been there for longer we probably would have taken the ferry over to one of the islands and explored a little bit.  We mainly just walked around downtown Seattle.  I also heard that the underground tour was supposed to be good.  If we go back I will definitely do that.  As far as restaurants I would go down to the water front where the ferrys go out from.  There are 3 or four restaraunts that looked fun to eat at.

In Vancouver we went to Granville Island which I definitely reccomend.  We took the ferry over which is very easy, it is like a five minute ride and we walked around.  They have a public market that was fun to walk through and we ate dinner at the Cat's Meow which was really good.  I would also recomend going to Stanley Park.  It is a huge park in the middle of the city (not unlike Balboa Park.)  We went to the Vancouver Aquarium (located in the park) which was nice.

Hope this helps!  They are both fun city's.

  • Excuse my butting in. . .

But I couldn't resist  my $.02 on Seattle eating:

PURPLE. Awesome wine bar/restaurant. there is one downtown as well as a couple other spots.

PESOS. This is in Lower Queen Anne, yummy yummy.

Anthony's on the Water serves Mai Tais in Pineapples. So good.

Tini Biggs, fun Martini Bar- C. and I went there on our 1st Date

Lots of people Love I love Sushi.

I have a ton more for you if this doesn't overwhelm you, ignore you need to as well.

  • I thought of one more. . . .CACTUS!!!!! The one in Madison Park is cool, there is also one in West Seattle- in Alki.

If you are in Alki, have yummy breakfast at Alki Cafe. If you are in Kirkland on the East side go to Brown  Bag Cafe for breakfast. THE BESTEST EVER!

You got me started on Seattle. I got homesick!

  • We will have to go back and try those suggestions!  We were there for such a short time we didnt really get a chance to get a real taste of the city.  (We had to head up to Vancouver for a wedding.)

I really enjoyed the city!  Everyone kept saying how hot it was and I had to go back to the hotel to get a sweater!  :)
