What's up for the weekend?
Re: Finally Friday
Tonight we are taking a friend out shopping for tomorrow night's bachelorette party (or at least C is - we'll see how I feel since the evenings are a little rough for me).
Then tomorrow my Gram is coming into town with my little sister and cousin. We'll all visit my other cousin who goes to college locally and take them back to our place, which my Gram hasn't seen yet. I'm very excited becuase we're going to tell Gram about the baby! We know she'll be very excited to be a Great-Gram
Then that night we are going to a bachelorette party for the wedding C is in. It's a two-part event, the second part being a pub crawl...we'll only be going to the first part! lol
Then on Sunday we have some errands, and the Steelers are playing, so C will be glued to the tv, but she did say that she wants to go to Babies R Us, so we'll sneak that in with the errands

Tonight - I have no idea. I am sure cleaning will be involved (yuck) and some DVR watching. It'll just be nice to be home as a family since L has had work/school commitments every night since Monday. I need to swing by Kohls to see if I can find a white long sleeved t.
Saturday - I'll take the kids to sports class and then somewhere. I promised L I would keep the kids out of the house for a long chunk of time to let her work on her school stuff. I may take them to the Science Museum (if it isn't raining - since it is a long walk from the parking to the museum) or to our gym and let them play in childcare (which they LOVE) while I work out and then hang out in the cafe and have some down time (they can be there for 2 hours - and I am not working out for 2 hours!) I'll take them to lunch, pick L up at home and then we are going downtown to a bar for a friends going away party (it's mid day so we are taking the kids!) Probably with all that activity, the kids will go to bed early and we'll watch more DVR.
Sunday - We are going to start going to church again. After church we're going to go to brunch and then they will drop me off at the airport where I will head off to the conference and L will be on her own!
Tonight andrea and I are helping out at the haunted house put on by the nursing home she works at. I'll be running the little-kid zone with ring tosses, mini golf, and candy bags. She'll be the grim reaper (sp?) in the haunted maze...she looooves to jump out and scare people. She counted how many people she made scream last year and she's hoping to beat it tonight :P
Tomorrow i'm going into the office in the morning - not sure what Andrea will be up to...maybe some yard work if its not raining. Then in the evening we have BIL+FSIL's jack and jill party. Should be a good time with the fam.
Sunday we'll probably head to church and brunch in the morning. In the afternoon andrea is convinced we're going to get started on the basement refinish (grumble), so it'll probably involve trips to home depot and laying carpet squares (double grumble).

With C out of town, my only plans for the weekend should be writing. But C needs a couple of new tires on her car, so I may take time to get her some. Similar to Two*True, I need to clear out some of the office/nursery. I much rather do some of that while C is away because I am sure the books in the bookcases are dusty
and I definitely do not want her around that. On Sunday, I will be at church in the morning and either be writing or packing in the afternoon.
Two*True (if you were in K's place) question--would you take advantage of the time and quiet to write or would you take advantage of the time and pack up most of the office (still leaving yourself a little time to write)?
Can I answer the writing or cleaning queston????
WRITE! WRITE WRITE!
I was actually going to post this in a separate post to all PhD/dissertation writing people. GET AS MUCH DONE (or finished) BEFORE THE KIDS ARRIVE! This is a huge source of frustration in our house since L doesn't feel like she has the time to write (she feels like she needs big blocks of time - not 2 hours here and there), which means I have to keep the kids out of the house (otherwise they want her and only her and will not stop banging on her office door), and I feel like I am a single parent 50% of the time. Had we known how hard it would have been, we would have put off doing the little things around the house that she did before the kids were born (MUCH less time consuming than writing a dissertation!)
Now, that being said, I have friends who are doing it successfully, but I think the key is that they are doing in part with work - so they can use work time to work on their writing. L can't - so she's working 40 hours (+ 2-3 hours/day commuting) a week and then another 20-40/hr a week on school.) She is exhausted and hates being away from the kids so much- and I miss being a family unit.
So, my suggestion is write as much as possible before the kids come!
Write! When I was in California this past week K did a ton of writing. She didn't buy groceries and the house wasn't spotless but I didn't mind. I knew she was doing the important work. If you write while C is away then when she gets home you can do more stuff together. If you need breaks from writing give yourself a goal and then once you reach that much time or pages take a break and clean off two shelves of books. Then keep going like that.
We have had a really rough few days with LMC so I am not sure how much we are up for this weekend.
I am hoping to get out of the house tonight and see a friend. I really need a break, however small. I would like to spend some time with my mom and pick up a few more pumpkins as well. We have the usual errands to run and I have to make more babyfood. S and I need some time alone but I am not sure if that will happen.
I am just hoping for a calm few days.
Today I'm waiting for the plumber (who's coming to do a few small inspection-related repairs) and then writing for most of the day in order to finish my proposal for my capstone research project (equivalent of my MA thesis).
Tonight C and I may go do errands (Lowes, Costco, pet store, grocery store) and maybe drive around a few neighborhoods up North in the other city we may buy in.
Tomorrow we're going house hunting ALL DAY. We have about 20 more places on our "To Be Considered" list. Hopefully we'll have at least a few good possibilities. Saturday night we're going to an Ani Difranco concert.
Sunday I'm going to church and meeting up with a friend afterward who is the co-coordinator of our Maybe Baby group. We're going to talk about planning for the coming year.
Sunday afternoon we'll either look at more houses or being making plan about where to put in an offer.
The "writes" have it!
THANKS!
