Recommend your Anti-Virus Software

We just bought a new desktop, and it came with a trial of Symantec which I cant stand.

Please recommend which anti-virus software that you use for home.

I use Kaspersky.  I bought my laptop from Best Buy and the associate that helped me recommended it.  He told me it's the one that he uses at home. 

I've had no issues with it. Some anti-virus software boggs down your computer, but I haven't noticed it with Kaspersky. I've been using it since March of this year.  I also haven't had any issues with viruses, so it must be working.

We use Microsoft Forefront and haven't had any issues with it. Before that we used Symantec, which doesn't help you.

We too use AVG (the free version) and have had no problems. We just installed it for my mom and she says it's great and loves it (my step dad has issues with uhh..clicking things he shouldn't and getting viruses).

I recently switched from McAfee to AVG and now my laptop is infected according to Best Buy.

I'm not sure I trust Best Buy (they want $70 to wipe it).

if you run a scan it should tell you whether or not it's infected.. and you might be able to fix the problem on your own by putting the file in quarantine or removing it. i have used avg on two different desktops, my laptop, and my skids laptops and i've never had an issues.

We have Windows Live Onecare and haven't had any issues and it's really easy to use (I've heard they are coming out with a free version).  Before that we had McAfee which made my system run really slowly and before that we had Norton which was a complete nightmare.

When I put AVG on my last laptop it got infected and crashed.  I decided with my current laptop that it was worth it to spend $40 a year for anti-virus software for peace of mind.  Especially since I do all of my banking and bill paying online. I wanted to make sure it was as secure as possible.

Our Fun Family

We use TrendMicro and are very happy with it.  I think we pay about $60 a year for it.
