HI from the Austin board...
Ok so this is sad.....I was born here,
never moved, and I have never been to south padre. My parents are major
beach snobs so I was lucky enough to grow up going to Hawaii ect...
But
my hubby and I want to check out the tx beaches...sp is where we are
thnking.....so my question is where do you stay thats not $200 a night,
has a pool and is not a roach motel?
I looked online and the shereton and ramada were like $275 each! TOO MUCH!
TIA!!
Re: South Padre Help!
Go off season?
We went Thanksgiving weekend 2006 and stayed at a nice hotel - can't recall the name, it's a major chain, located between Sheraton and Radisson - for $100. Included a jacuzzi tub, was right on the beach. Weather was great and it was wonderful!
I was just there last week for work and stayed at the Howard Johnson which was ok - but at a state rate of $79 I couldn't complain . However, I don't think now is the best time to go. It's HOT. Even the sea air doesn't cool it down very much.
I grew up in SoCal and was spoiled, as even if it was bloody hot all day, at the ocean it was cooler. At SPI it's still hot! I love the heat, but it's just not the nicest time there.
