Mac users please step in- software ?

I just got a new MacBook Pro and ordered Microsoft office. However it hasn't arrived yet and I need to type up a paper. Are there any good free programs that I can use to do this, or maybe something that's already installed that I don't know about?

I considered typing it up in my e-mail but I also need to be able to print it.

Re: Mac users please step in- software ?

  • You can download a 30 day trial of iWork (the Apple equivalent of MS Office) from the Apple site if a trial isn't already installed on your computer. Once you get Office, your Pages document will be compatible with Word. Otherwise, just use TextEdit that is installed on all Macs.

  • You should already have a program called "Text Edit" on your OS.
  • OpenOffice.org - this is free equivalent software to Microsoft Office! It's also compatible with Microsoft office.  You can create and save word doc in openoffice as a .doc and than open it with MS Office.  I highly recommend it!

  • I also used Open Office until I got my Microsoft Office for Mac. It worked fine, but I'm glad I have Microsoft Office now.
