Very Active LO :-)

I laugh to myself seeing how my 'bump/belly' shakes at times! I sware she has a punching bag or is doing cartwheels! Just now I counted 14 kicks/punches in a row! and this goes on ALL day long. It's what I feel when I go to sleep and when I wake up. Even during 'down time' she's still moving...unless I KNOW she's sleeping for a max 6 hrs in a day.

#1 - I'm freaking out! If she continues this 'activeness' once she's out I'm going to go crazy....

#2 - About 8 women IRL (in the last week) have asked if she moves a lot - I say yes..all day - they then say "Oh she's going to come early".

Is there any truth to this?

Anyways as much movement as it is I love feeling her Smile

Probably about as much truth to it as the thousands of other old wives' tales.  If so, my little guy will be a hairy troll (from the heartburn) and will have massive birthmarks all over his body from all the times I scratched an itch after denying myself a craving ;)

I think it's best just to plan on an estimated birth month.  I think that was Rachel who initally gave that advice and I think it's the smartest thing I've heard!

  • I don't know if there is any truth to it, but in my case P came at 35 weeks and she was very very active, and she came out with a full head of hair and I had quite a bit of heartburn a month before she was born.

Another wives tale I heard is kind of like Amy's where if you keep touching your belly like ALL the time they will have a HUGE birth mark. P doesn't have any birth marks and I touched my belly all the time.

  • P is very very active right now ALL the time, even when she sleeps LOL so your LOL might be active when she comes out as well. P can sleep with her legs in the air and her arms to her side. We tried swaddling her when she sleeps and she doesn't really like it so we only do it at night but during the day she's only in a sleeper and her legs are up. I guess she's used to it.

  • My son was ridiculously active in utero (I laughed at the idea of "kick counts" when I heard that you were supposed to count 10 movements in 6 minutes, or whatever it is- I would feel 10 movements in 10 seconds, it seemed like!). He is also very active on the outside- he started rolling over at 4 weeks, crawling by 6 months, walking for 8 months, and was crawling onto tables and jumping off them by one year. However, he was also 10 days overdue so I don't believe the "it'll come early!" notion at all.

Julian was active like that and has never stopped ever since he was born( still only sleeps 9-10 hrs per day maximum). Not much truth to that b/c Julian was born 2 weeks and I was even 3 cm dilated for about 4 weeks prior to that.

  • Jefferson and Kate weren't very active in-utero.  I couldn't do those kick counts, because they were never what they were supposed to be.  They both sleep 12 hours a night, plus J takes a two hour nap most days.  He is super busy while he's awake, but he will sit down at any time to read a book or color.

Jefferson came a week early and I had a planned c/s 10 days before my EDD with Kate.

  • Ben was ridiculously active inside of me. He is just as active in the real world. He was 2 weeks late.
  • My baby's super active. I've already predicted they will be a dancer or a hockey player (definitely a hockey player if you ask DH). This is perfect though since early Jan babies have a way higher chance of ending up in the NHL, helloooooooooooo retirement plan!
  • DD was verrrry calm in utero. Rarely moved - I even went for 2 NSTs at the hospital because of low kick counts.

She came flying into this world 3 days early

    Screw RRSP's!!!!

  • Scarlett was very lazy when I carried her, ?she is one super busy baby now though let me tell you! ?I have no idea about early or late because I had a planned c/s.

  • Our LO was the same way when I was pregnant!! She was active most of the day, I didn't feel her that much at night once I was asleep but laying down to go to sleep she was really active. I don't know how much truth there is to her coming early though.... our LO was 1 week late!!

my baby didn't really start moving around until 25 weeks so don't fret!

Definitely - my financial plan is much more secure and well thought out, lol.
