just plain annoyed...

So I manage a very very small rehab dept (me and the PT are the only full time staff).  Well our facility census has been way down for several weeks and we've been doing the best we can with our meager caseloads.  Anywho my regional calls today to tell me that if we don't get our weekly efficiency (billable treatment minutes/staffing minutes) that I will need to start sending people home early.  Hello....there are only 2 of us!  What really gets me...in order to maintain benefits like health insurance we have to work a minimum of 37.5 hours a week.  That's kind of an important thing to have!  So basically we start going home and I am seriously going to get my resume out there.  This is crazy...how can we go home early each day and still get 37.5 hours and still make enough to cover our bills (ie: my mortgage).  Just not a fun way to start out our week!  Makes me grouchy!

Oh no,that stinks, I hate that productivity pressure.  I used to work at LRGH and they didn' t have productivity expectations, aren't you in the lakes region?  have you considered working for a school district, either directly or through Boothby contract svcs?  Then you could have your summers free for fire fighting stuff!  Good luck!!

Ugh, that stinks!!  I think you need to bring that issue up to your boss.  I mean its not YOUR fault that your census is down, kwim?  If your part of a chain of clinics is it possible you can transfer somewhere else a few days a week so you can still get your hours in?   If not, that I would be looking else where.  I know Northeast Rehab Hospital  in Salem, NH is always hiring PT's.. but I did hear that they are buidling a new facility out on the seacoast.. Portsmouth maybe?
