I am still trying to figure out how to celebrate this day. We could celebrate it as the same with gifts and a big meal, does anyone have any other ideas?
Re: Epiphany
You might want to google "Fesat of the Epiphany traditions/celebrations" and see what comes up. This is also called Three Kings Day or Little Christmas. I know it's a huge holiday in the Latino countries and communities.
You can also try googling "Twelfth Night party", I'm not sure what it is exactly but I remember a woman I worked with used to have them.
In France (and some other European countries), they have a special cake they make and in it they hide a bean (or something else easy to find and not harmful if you bite it) and the person who gets the piece with the bean is "king for the day" and gets a crown and a small gift. They are also the one in charge of baking the cake the next year. I do this for my students (I teach French), but I bake an M&M in a vanilla cake. The kids enjoy it and they really remember the celebration (I don't dwell on the religious stuff too much because it's a public school). So, you might want to look for other world traditions to try!
