restaurant rave!

DH and I finally ate at Back to Cuba Cafe over the weekend...we've intended to try it for months, but just got around to it.  It was FABULOUS!  I grew up in Florida, so I know my Cuban food and it was very good and very authentic.

Just wanted to share for those of you who love good local and/or ethnic restaurants.

Re: restaurant rave!

  • where is it?  I love ethnic food and feel like it is the one downfall to living in greater nashville (especiall franklin where they consider chinese to be PF Chang)
  • I'm glad to hear that.   I mentioned it to my DH as it is only a couple miles from our house.  We will definitely have to try it.

  • hoping - coming from Franklin on 65 you would get off at Harding Road, go east and it is in a strip mall probably a third of a mile on the left.

  • H4S--I find there is a ton of good ethnic food to be had in Nashville...you just have to come into the city.  It's not NYC or Boston, of course, but I feel like we have a lot for the market size.
  • cj-

i'm starting a new job in Nashville and I'm actually looking forward to being close to better food.

  • I LOVE Cuban food! I have family in Miami....and I am Puerto Rican....so I know my latin food also! :D ?I had no idea there was one here!?

    ?

Have you tried the Ethiopan Restaurant on Division St? It is awesome!

    ?

Does anyone know of a really good Indian or Morroccan place???

    ?

Yeh....I hate PF Chang's....that is so far from being Chinese & they use so much MSG in there food there! ?

  • FYI about that Ethiopian place on Division.  It's closed :'(  They were doing pretty good business, but not enough to pay the rent in the area.  It made me very sad.  Going to have to search out another good place or go back to Horn of Africa where the owner of the Division place used to cook/manage (don't know where she is working/cooking right now).

For Indian (provided vegetarian is OK) try Woodlands, on West End just before the Westbound exit-ramp from 440 (it's a mega pain to find, gotta look at the bottom level of a high-rise residential condo.  Of my Indian friends that have tried a lot of places in town, they say it's the only place worth going.  They have a good lunch buffet going too.
