Group projects suck

Grr. In one of my classes at school we've been assigned into groups and are working in the same group all semester. We have an assignment due more or less every week.

This one guy in my group is driving me crazy. He seems to have made it his personal mission to discount everything I say. And I'm more or less getting straight A's so far (my lowest mark is a B+) so it's not that I'm saying stupid things. The one time I put my foot down about something I felt strongly about, he stopped participating in the project and didn't check back into the group until after our assignment was handed in. He insists on taking a leadership role in everything and it's driving me insane. He totally runs every project, even though we've already divvied up the projects and certain people are responsible for working on certain parts.

Another woman in our group has missed two entire assignments- she checks in after the assignment is over and apologizes for missing it. I don't know if her life is actually so crazy that she can't participate, or if she's just lazy, or if she's going insane from working with this guy too. I'm trying to cut her some slack because she seems genuinely sorry when she has missed out, but still. It's annoying.

I can't wait until this class is over.

  • ugh that totally sucks. ?Is there anyway that you guys could actually take turns having a leadership role and rotate responsibility? ?It might make working with this guy easier.?

We already have. He still ends up trying to lead everything.

I forgot how frustrating group projects at school can be until earlier this year when I took a course. All these personality types with different agendas. In the 'real world' i have no issues working in a group or with a team but there, unlike school, roles are defined.
