Why do all the Indiana shows..

"The Middle", "Parks & Rec.", etc.. make Hoosiers look like a hot mess? Yes, they are funny and represent "everyman" but still.. there are moments where I just have to groan and wonder if the rest of the country thinks we are actually like this?

It is sort of sad!! I mean I love that our beautiful hoosier home is on TV, but it is sad that they make us look so disfunctional. I did think it was funny on "In the Middle" when it was totally sunny out, and a tornado came...not that tornados are funny, but that is a pretty good depiction of Indiana weather!!

On a sad note, they tried to have a legal drama based in Indy, and it didn't make it past the pilot. I guess people like their legal dramas to be based on the coasts

Maybe people will watch these shows and see that Hoosiers are really nice friendly people (which I happen to think is very true!)

That's funny, my DH and I thought the same thing. We like both shows, but they sure make Indiana citizens look like ignorant losers.  We just moved here from CA a few years back and it's funny to watch these shows from that perspective. I think Hollywood has generalized the Mid-west because of the slower paced life here vs somewhere like CA.  Still funny shows though!

That's true our weather does change on a dime and we are all for the most part super nice

 I also enjoy how I have yet to see a rainstorm, or even sweater weather
