Not surprisingly...

I hate it when I have to let others bring something to a party. LOL

This coming weekend is our turn to host a neighborhood Packer party.  (Not a problem - I LOVE our neighbors for the most part.  I LOVE hosting events.  It gives me something to do while everyone's SUPER involved in the Packer game.)

This "round robin Packer party" works as follows: the host provides the main dish, beer, and something else and lets people know what they can bring (PROBLEM. LOL)

I much prefer to be able to plan a whole menu out rather than say "Can you bring a side dish?" because then I don't know what that side dish is. LOL  I like to plan a whole menu, even if that means we do everything. LOL

I've been DYING to make Bacon-Wrapped Jalapenos and almost made deviled eggs last time.  So we planned on making them for this party.  No joke: we planned the party around these.

So I'm making hot beef sandwiches, bacon-wrapped jalapenos, and deviled eggs.  I have two neighbors for sure that I need to text and say "Can you bring _____ on Sunday?"  Neighbor A is a guy who can cook, but hasn't for the past two parties he hasn't hosted (brought nuts to our first party, venison sausage & cheese curds to the second, and managed to cook EVERYTHING for his own turn!)  Neighbor B is a woman who can cook, but is kind of sporadic (she won't know what she's bringing until Sunday, but then will change her mind last minute and bring two completely different things anyway.)

In order for me to make the jalapenos & eggs, that leaves dessert and a side dish or comparable "appetizer".  Neither neighbor has done dessert before.  Who do I saddle it with?  (I'm fine with cookies...even store-bought ones! LOL)

Re: Not surprisingly...

  • Obviously these neighbors talk to each other so maybe text them both at the same time explaining what is needed and let them decide which they want to bring. They can talk it out between the 2 of them and then you won't have to worry about it.

  • I am just like you.  I want to be able to control every aspect of entertaining at my house so that it is perfect!

I would ask the guy to bring dessert because you know he'll just go to to a bakery or the grocery store in the morning and buy something.  (which I would be fine with too)
