What a weekend in sports.

Yanks win, Bama barely survives, three teams are threatening to prove the BCS shouldn't just be for the "big leagues", Steve Phillips was fired from ESPN [and apparently, his ex-mistress tried to confront his wife], all but two games played yesterday in the NFL were pretty much blow-outs, Bradford's having surgery and going pro in the spring...and these are just the stories I was paying attention to this weekend.

So. What's your fave sports story from this weekend? Or the one that surprised you the most?

  • I have blocked out the Gator-Miss St. game / debacle from my mind, so my favorite sports story / 'moment' is Clemson beating Miami in OT.  Big Smile

Oh my gosh! How could I forget that?!

Florida didn't look so hot at the beginning...but they definitely came back. I'm glad they went back to No. 1 - if Bama was still No. 1 after the crappy game they played, I would've been SO mad.

  • my favorite is that the Gators are back on top of both polls!

But I'm a bit distracted by this upcoming weekend: the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party (FL v GA). I can't wait!!!!

  • I feel so bad for Sam Bradford. He decided to stay at OU another year instead of going Pro then gets hurt the FIRST game. Only played one full game for the entire season... and now he's out and going Pro next year. Crying

Agreed. He came back for his team - wanted to lead them back to the top - and bam. It's over. I know he's doing what's best for him now, and I wish him a speedy recovery and hope he can make an impact in the NFL...but still sucks.

On the bright side, Landry Jones is pretty damn good. :)

I wish I could have watched it.  I heard it was a thriller.

  • Don't forget that the Bengals murdered the Bears.

Yeah, the Bears' defense scored me negative 4 points in fantasy.  I lost by 3.3.  Grrr!!
