Holiday side dish ideas
Ladies,
I am part of a monthly cooking club and November is "Fave Holiday Side Dish."
Give me some great side dish ideas...out of the ordinary, but crowd pleasers.

I love this holiday side dish -
You take fresh green beans - steam & blanch so they remain crisp -
You saute a few pieces of bacon, reserve the bacon fat - cook up thin slices of onion and red pepper - add back in the green beans-there is a mixture of garlic and teriyaki sauce - pour that over - then you add halved roasted cashews and crumbled bacon. It's looks great (think green with white and red along with the bacon and cashew) it's got sweet and salty and it's a great side to ANY main dish. If you google it-you'll find many recipes-but I think this is a Paula Deen one? I found it :
1 ? pounds of fresh green beans, tips removed. Wash and set aside. 3 slices of bacon (reserve 1 T. of bacon fat drippings) ? c. red bell pepper (thin sliced) ? c. yellow onion (thin sliced) 1 T. of fresh lemon juice salt/fresh black pepper to taste 2 T. teriyaki sauce 1 T. honey 1 tsp. Butter (melted) crushed red pepper flake (to taste) 1 tsp. Of minced/thin chopped garlic ? c. whole cashews In a non-stick pan, fry up bacon til crisp. Set aside. Reserve 1 T. of bacon fat drippings. In large pot ? boil water with salt and lemon juice ? once boiling ? add green beans ? 5 minutes for crisp crisp green beans ? 8-10 for moderate/more done beans. Drain ? set aside. While beans are cooking ? mix together in small bowl ? teriyaki, honey and melted butter. Add garlic and pepper flakes, a pinch of kosher salt and some fresh black pepper. Set aside. 10 minutes before you plan to serve dinner ? Melt 1 T. of bacon fat ? add onions and red bell pepper ? cook approx. 2 minutes, add green beans- cook 1 min?.add small bowl of wet ingredients?.coat all green beans?.30 seconds to 1 minute ? add cashews..just to mix (use tongs) and then crumble your 3 pieces of bacon. Serve immediately.
