Advice for house hunting in the Columbus area???

Hello All, My husband and I are looking to buy our first home somewhere around the Columbus area. We have been living in and apartment in Columbus (Grandview Heights) for a few years but now it's time to start looking for a house. We don't exactly have a ton to spend, looking to stay under the $150,000 range if at all possible. We don't know the surrounding areas very well. I am also concerned with finding a good school district for the future. I am from a small rural town and love the small town feel. I don't want a cookie cutter house and I need a little bit of land (not asking for much, just something more than a piece of grass- like .25 acres). We are willing to move a little farther out (Deleware, Marysville, etc). I work for OSU and DH works in Worthington (kind of). Any suggestions on areas to look in or avoid??? Any help would be greatly appreciated-Thanks!

Re: Advice for house hunting in the Columbus area???

  • Hi! We live in Marysville right now. We moved to our neighborhood mainly for the schools. We love it. Recently we started looking for something with some land but there was nothing we really liked. I would consider our house a 'cookie cutter' house, but we definitely have a decent sized back and front yard, more than .25 acres. But if you are willing to get a fixer-upper, you might find something with some acreage in that price range. But, overall, we love Marysville. I grew up in a small town in Texas, so the small town feel was important to me. Good luck in your search! Feel free to message me if you want any more info!
  • Gahanna has a good school system and houses within your budget. I live in Gahanna but school district is westerville due to lines drawn, but I'm close to Easton and have a good size yard.
