Photography anyone? Good classes?

I am looking for a good digital photography class to take, and I'm wondering if anyone has been to any good ones they can recommend.  I have a Canon Rebel Xti and I am a complete amateur.  I really want to learn how to great photos using the manual features on the camera.

TIA!

Re: Photography anyone? Good classes?

  • I actually just asked that same question not too long ago on another board.  Someone said to check out The Learning Annex.  And then I live near Southwestern College and they have a pretty decent photography course that isn't too expensive.  You may want to look into your closest community college.  Or talk to Ritz Camera.  We almost got our camera there and a purchase there included a free class.  So they must know where they're held!  :)

Yeah, sorry, that was longer then I expected!  But I'm in the same boat- just got a Rebel XTi and I want to learn how to play with it.

  • Not sure about local classes, but I hear this website is a good resource.

  • Thanks everyone!

I've heard mixed reviews on the mammarazi classes.

  • Yeah, I recently heard that the classes just go over what's on the blog.  But I have heard good things about the blog.  I haven't had a chance yet to read through it.

  • I just took a semester long class at my local CC (Palomar). I took it credit/no credit, so I didn't really have to worry about showing up every day (it was twice a week), or homework, etc. ( though I still did all the work!) I learned a TON! It was a film B&W class, and once I get a nice digital SLR, like a Rebel XTi or something like that, I would love to take another class at the CC. It's totally reasonably priced, you learn SO much more than just a day long workshop, and I met alot of fun people, too! Check into the local SD Community colleges-I'm sure you can find an intro Digital photo class!
