We got back Sunday from the Riveria Maya in Mexico. We stayed at the Iberostar Grand Hotel....Oh my God, this place was unbelieveable! We don't travel much and probably won't again like this for a long time, so I when I researched, I was looking for an adults only, really nice place. This hotel is rated #1 in the area it is in. If you are planning a special trip and want to stay somewhere amazing, this is the place. The people that work there are so friendly. Everyone we walked past said "Hola" and the bartenders actually become friends as they work almost everyday:-) We also met a bunch of honeymooners and other really nice couples. The grounds and buildings are meticulous. We were so sad to leave! I'll post some pictures soon.
Getting down there on Spirit Airlines was a nightmare and I would advise people not to fly on them as they royally screwed us over and we now have to fight to get back about $1,500 that we had to spend in addition to what we already did. Long story but they are awful.
Anyways, we are back and I feel offically married now that the big, planned wedding events are done and we can enjoy being married:-)
Re: Back from our honeymoon!
Good to hear you had a wonderful honeymoon, despite the airline issues. If there is ever a time to splurge its your HM! We definitely did with ours.
Hope you enjoy settling into your newlywed life together.
I love Iberostars! We have stayed at the Del Mar which is in the same complex as the Grand. We have gone three years in a row. You should try one of the less expensive ones for your next visit. They aren't nearly as fancy but the service is really exceptional.
Thanks girls! I was saying to DH while we were there..."Why have we just discovered how great vacations are, now that we're semi ready to start a family?" :-)
We did not do Xcaret, but did go to Tulum then did the ziplining in the jungle as well as snorkeling in the cenotes, and rappeling. We also went on a lobster/steak sunset cruise, and got a massage at the Spa. There is so much to do there but we didn't have the time or the money to do it all. You really could spend 2 weeks there (money aside) to go on all of the excursions. Mexico is really a great place to go as you can relax or be active. The water is beautiful too!
