The NCAA

is a freaking joke. I have NOTHING nice to say about them.

Just out: they've suspended Dez Bryant for the SEASON. THE SEASON!

Obviously, I'm an Ok. State fan, so of course I'm going to be a little bit upset about this, but really?! The whole season? He didn't get freebies or money. He lied about working out with Deion Sanders because he was afraid what he'd done was against the rules. He lied, he deserved some sort of punishment, but I think that suspending him for a whole season is going way overboard. There are SO many other wrong-doings in college sports that need more attention than this.

Ugh. Not happy. Angry

Re: The NCAA

  • I am not sure the process, but is there a chance of an appeal?

There is and the university is going to appeal, but we shouldn't have to.

  • I often find myself questioning their decisions...  Huh?

  • It seems like they are just making an example of him.  I think the punishment is too harsh as well.
  • That is so ridiculous.

  • I'm heated about this. So, they're taking their sweet time looking into Michigan's alleged practice violations [no offense to any Michigan fans], and they're letting the Oregon player who punched out the Boise State player - then tried to jump into the crowd - come back, but Dez is done for the year? Really?

I will never understand how the NCAA works, and this just makes me a bigger hater of the organization. I'm furious right now - not because we don't have a good player, but because this hurts Dez. Thank you NCAA for stripping the rest of what's left of his college career. I want an explanation, and I'm sure it won't be good enough.

    Rant over. Angry

  • Okay so I am with you on this one, the punishment was entirely too harsh. However, as a former NCAA athlete you learn one thing: No matter what, above all other infractions, a student athlete accepting anything from any professional athlete or team that is not pre-approved by the NCAA will no longer be an athlete. That is their number 1 violation.  I don't agree with it, just telling you what the manual says. So in their eyes, they are justified. I do agree that they are just making an example of him. Poor kid.

  • That is total bullshiit and I'm not even an OK State fan.

Maybe they're learning their disciplinary practices from the NFL.  At least NCAA players who continue on to the pros know that they can expect lopsided punishments all of the time.
