Printer/Scanner/Copy Machine suggestions needed

After 5+ years,my all-in-one printer/scanner/copy machine has stopped working. It's likely that I will get a new machine for christmas or my birthday since my family asked me to research what kind I want. Anyone have a brand they've liked? I want it to at least print, scan and copy. Fax capability would be nice, but not a requirement since DH and I have fax machines at our jobs and no regular phone line at the moment (just cell phones).

  • If you're ok with not printing color, I highly recommend the Canon MF4350.  I've got it's predecessor, the MF4150, and I absolutely love it.  It's got a page feeder, so you can scan/copy multiple pages at once - which is awesome if you're trying to make your office as paperless as possible.  Also, it does duplex printing - prints to both sides of the page - without you having to flip the page over and put it back in.  As I said, I love mine, and with a laser printer, you don't have to buy toner nearly as often as you have to buy ink.  I've only bought one toner cartridge since I've owned it, and that was after having it for over a year with what I would consider average use.
  • I've had a lot of luck with HP printer/scanner/copiers. in fact, I'm considering buying a new one right now because I need one that's wireless. There is a HP Photosmart Premium (don't know specific model number) that's currently $100 off at Best Buy right now.

We have a HP all in one (Officejet 6300 series) and we really like it.  It prints b&w and color, scans, copies and faxes.

  • We have a Brother MFC 490CW. It scans (has feeder), copies, prints, and faxes. We really like it. I had a Canon MP500 and liked it until it got some weird error and wouldn't print anymore. As the PP said, the Canon does double sided printing, as far as I can tell the Brother does not but it took me a few years to realize the Canon did, lol. We tried an HP all in one and it was crazy slow whenever we sent anything to print so we got rid of it and got the Brother.

  • I highly recommend Lexmark. My Aunt bought a new computer and has a 3 year old printer/fax/scanner model that is not compatible with Windows Vista. The technical support rep. walked me through trying to fix it, and discovered Vista was the problem. I gave him remote access and he worked on it for an hour+. He was very polite and went over and beyond. I was very impressed with how Lexmark stands behind their products even after the warranty was expired. Which is more than I can say for Linksys router technical support. I had the same problem with the router and Vista. They wanted me to pay $49.00 for each hour for tech. support.
