I should probably start by saying "hello" since I've lingered, but haven't actually posted here yet (even though I've been married a month already!).
That said, is anyone involved in or know of a good book club? Or do you have any advice/suggestions of how to find a good one?
I was hoping to find one through my old university, but it looks like they cancelled all the local ones.
Thanks!
Re: Book Clubs
my friends and I started one about two years ago, and we have been adding on people here and there ever since. We usually meet at someones house or at a bar/coffee shop in various different northside neighborhoods.
We always welcome new members!
Not to hijack this thread, but I would also love to join a book club! Details? You can PM me if you don't want to post in public.Or we could start a Chicago Nestie Online Club, but I know that then we lose the "discussion" and interaction thing. Just a thought.
Oh, and I'm kind of new (when I first posted here it was really slow on this board so I've been MIA), so feel free to ask questions!
I love book clubs and am in 6 right now (2 online, 4 in person). If you don't have any friends that are already running one or would be interested in it try your local library-they almost always have groups you can join.
I would be thrilled to join a chicago nestie book club if there are others that are interested. If we couldn't do it in person we could always use goodreads!
Since there seems to be enough interest here, maybe we should start a Chicago Nestie book club?
Also, regarding a potential nestie bookclub: would you guys prefer an online or in-person book club?
I was initially thinking of joining an in-person club, but I'm open to both. And I wouldn't mind helping to organize one.
Any thoughts?
I can help organize too, i wouldnt mind being in two different ones, i just might have trouble finishing both books...
Our in person ones are fun! we usually meet at a different bar in a variety of neighborhoods about every 5-6 weeks.
I have lots of good suggestions about first books to start with, we have read a ton of great ones already!
I'd like an in-person one like this, so there's some booze around while we chat!
How often do bookclubs meet? Every week, two weeks, once a month?
