~?~Moms!!!~?~ Another question...

Have any of you ever taken your kids to the Gymboree classes?  I just noticed they have Saturday classes and I was thinking about enrolling Rylie.  Just wanted to see what you all thought about them if you've gone, or if you've heard anything.  TIA!!!

  • I've never taken Ali to those classes. I've heard mixed reviews about them so I'm really no help at all. . .

  • I took Michael last year and he loved them!! He really learned alot!  He was 13 months when we started going!  I would have taken him earlier but that was when opened near me!!!  I stopped going because he went to the next level and the it was too long of a day with me working.  They are really flexible with make up classes too if you miss a Saturday class and I think summer is unlimited classes for the monthly fee of one.  Let me know if yo have any other questions.

I am not a mom..but my best friend is and she takes her 5 month old to mommy/baby gymboree classes and she LOVES them. She says she is so sore from them so they must really work!

  • Thanks ladies!  I think once she hits 6 months I'll try the free class.  They don't have the 0-6 month on Saturday.  But that is only a couple weeks away.

Mrs.Couch - I was wondering if you could "make up" a class.  I have every other Friday off, so I guess if I missed a Saturday class I could make it up on a Friday.  Thanks again!

  • I have been taking my daughter (she turned two over the weekend) for the past 4-5 months (we also have previously gone when she was around a year old in another state).  I have prepaid thru September so she will keep going till then.

Honestly, I think its overpriced.  I think that they now have a monthly fee of $55.00 (or $50).  So that comes out to like $10-$12 per class.  The classes are only 45 minutes long.  They do have open gym 2-3 times per week to but we don't always seem to make it those.

We have annual passes to Sea World and Aquatica too which are free for her and like $12/month for me.  She has just as much (if not more) fun when we go there so I guess there are other places I take her that are less money that she enjoys just as much.

She doesn't go to daycare so I guess the interaction with other kids is good for her.

I am glad that I signed her up for it but I don't see it as something I would keep her enrolled in for much longer.

  • I looked into it, but with me staying at home the price was a bit too much.  Also, the closet location for us was about 40 minutes away.  I do take her to the library for story time once a week and she enjoys it.  I would love to find something for us to do together that isn't so expensive and for her to be around other kids more.
  • You could definitely do a "make up" class as long as her class is offered on Fridays as well.  We were scheduled for a Tuesday early evening class I believe and then we used Saturday as our make up day.  I was paying $69 last summer!!  I wish it was a little cheaper too!!!  Good luck!

  • I took Brendon to a free class before he turned 1. It was ok! I've also gone to a free class (I like free stuff!) for MyGym and I like Gymboree much better. My thing is, he is getting plenty of interaction with other kids at day care and on the days I have off, I'd rather not share him!
  • i no that Kindermuzik is Better!

When Rylie gets a little older, we'll have to get together for a playdate!

And Elizabeth - I see your point.  But I can only take so much of watching her bounce around in her jumparoo.  Big Smile  I was just thinking it would be something her and I can do together.

  • When Izzy was 5-6 months old we used to nap together on my days off... those were the mornings and afternoons that I loved..... now she will not sleep in a bed with me..  She wants to play with instead.

I have to butt in here and say that your little girl is SO adorable!!!

I am afraid to put Rylie in bed with me.  She moves around all over the place and even though I have a king size bed, I'm afraid she'll fall off.  She's a crap napper anyway, so I probably wouldn't be able to get a good nap anyway.

And boo that I can't see the picture of your little cutie.  Sad

  • I am glad you posted this question.  I was curious about this.  I am so glad there where so many responses.  Thanks girls
  • LeeAnn~I would LOVE a play date!!  Rylie is just too cute for words:)
  • We will definitely set something up!  Shoot me an email sometime...
