I finally changed my name!
Woohoo!! I went to the DMV and changed my name today! Next is Social Security and I also have to go to the banks and change it there.
Did any of you change the bank info over the phone? I would love to skip that trip.
Re: I finally changed my name!
Yay! Congrats! I still have two places to change my name. I went personally to the banks.
Thanks, I am going to call around and see what else I can do over the phone!
Angie, lol! I thought I waited so long. Andrew has been pushing me to do it, he kept saying I didn't want his name.
Vicky, that's a good idea! I am going to scan it at work.
when i changed my name i did SS first because you have to show some kind of ID with your maiden name and that was the only one i had. Then i did the DMV
If you bank with Bank of America you need to go in person (at least thats what they told me and thats what I did) And if you have more than one account and the other accoun0t(s) is joint the other person has to be there with you. Yea they gave me a hard time... pfffsh!
CC can be done over the phone, some might ask you to send them a copy of your ML or send you some forms to complete.
Thanks! I just checked Bank of America's website and we have to go in person. I think I may go tomorrow, I want to get this all over with!
I didn't have to show anything besides my current license and my marriage certificate for my new license. Thank goodness, that would have sucked because I made an appointment...
After I got my new social security card, then I went to the DMV, school and the bank to do the name change. I got it done in the same day, everything else was done via fax or email. There's only a couple of things that is not updated yet because they are being slow to process my request for a name change. The same day, I even managed to get my new id badge and by the end of the day, my work email and login was also updated to reflect the married name.
Only one place kept one of the certified copies of my marriage certificate and that was my school. I'm still trying to get used to signing my new name and getting used to hearing my married name.
Oh and yesterday, I was able to go onto DH's insurance (I'm part-time, so I don't qualify for benefits at my workplace). It feels good to be insured again after not having health insurance for the last 5 years.
