Need your opinions: Hospital

Hi ladies!!!

We just found out as of yesterday we are KU and now I'm on the fence on which Dr to go with.

I'm debating on my original Ob/gyn because of the hospital that she delivers at is Mt Sinai. Has anyone delivered at this hospital? How was the service? would you recommend it? Or know of anyone that has delivered here?

My other doctor delivers at the hospital that I love, Memorial Miramar but its a practice of 5 doctors so its not a guarantee that the doctor I have been seeing will be there at delivery.

With our m/c it was a mess at the doctor's office so I'm really concerned on what dr I start to go visit starting tomorrow for the beta levels.

We really do not want to ask any of our family or friends yet until the results of the betas are in.

Any advice, tip would be great!

Tthank you!!!!

  • Hope all goes well!!!  My sister delivered my nephew at Mt. Sinai 7 years ago...she had a good delivery and the service was really good.  My friend also delivered her two babies there, one of them is 2 and the other is 7 months...she said that she had a good experience both times.

    HTH! and good luck!

  • Thank you!! I just found out that all the rooms are shared, unless you pay out of pocket for a private room and its very expensive.

Ugh, this is tough and its crunch time.

You can always just go tom for beta with the doc that gives you the first appt, and then research further and settle on the doctor for delivery.

  • Charlotte I'm so happy for u!! I hope everything works out for you and your hubby! I love my doc but she is in a big group so I understand your concern with big practices. Fortunately, I'm having a c-section so she is definitely going to be there unless my princesses decide to make an early appearance :)..They deliver only at Baptist..
  • i really do not have any input (sorry) but im curious, what does KU mean?  ::feels stupid::

  • I've heard of femwell and I believe they have a pretty good reputation..My ob-gyn is Dr. Lopez Beecham..She is part of a group under Thomas Diminio..HTH!
  • First... Congratulations!!!!

I could ask my brother and SIL about Mt. Sinai, they've both worked there as RNs at one time.

May I ask why you love Memorial Miramar???Just b/c the hospital is beautiful, but my cousin's wife delivered their first there and the twins. Each time they had a miserable experience with the staff. They were pleasant, it was just that they didn't know WTF they were doing there. For example, with the first they told her the pain she was having was Kidney Stones. She was actually in labor! She suffered for so long. And when her water broke she told them and they said it wasn't her water breaking. I swore never to go to that hospital.?

If you're looking at other hospitals Memorial Regional is an excellent hospital for delivery. It is not as pretty, but the staff is excellent and they are state of the art. If anything goes wrong they have the resources there.

    GL!?
