Pls help with Christmas dinner party menu

So far Ham and roast potatoes.

Re: Pls help with Christmas dinner party menu

  • Well, you can always do traditional.  Turkey, macaroni and cheese, stuffing, green beans, and cheesecake all come to mind.  I made this cheesecake last year for Christmas and it was a huge hit.

Try checking out Martha Stewart or epicurious.com for full menus.  They always have good ideas.

  • When my family does ham, we usually do sides of dinner rolls, potato salad and pasta salad, but I have a tasty green bean recipe in my siggy, that would go well with the ham and potatoes (Sauteed Green Beans with Sweet Potatoes and Walnuts). I'd probably tell you to skip the sweet potatoes and add fresh cranberries (the recipe originally called for dry).

There's also a recipe in there for a recent dinner party for 10 with appetizers, a pork & stuffing entree and a couple desserts. (Clearly, I'm just starting the blog since this is the majority of items posted!)

  • I would make scalloped pineapple, green beans, and dinner rolls to go w/ ham and potatoes.

    Yummm

  • These green beans are always a hit.  You can make ahead too:

We also like this for a sweet potato/potato mix.  Again you can make ahead, just be sure to add some cooking time to both:

For some reason we always have bing cherry jello and sugar snap peas too.

  • We have ham for Easter and we always have rice, pineapple casserole and other stuff like peas, rolls, etc. But rice and pineapple casserole are the standards we do with ham.

I agree that mac and cheese would be awesome.

  • When we have ham, we also have ravioli. Is that weird? It seems to go to us. I don't eat pork, so I don't really know what else... sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes (or the roasted ones you mention), ham, ravioli, meatballs or Italian sausage, corn, asparagus, beets, big salad... We don't experiment, lol.

  • I've seen people serve an assortment of different mustards with ham.
