I don't know how to pronounce "GBCN" in my head and it's driving me nuts. With GBCK, I'd say "G-Back" in my mind... with The Nest, I've got nothing.

Kaley's post made me think of that.

I always thought of it as "geebeeceekaying". Maybe G-Back-in? That sounds so odd. Maybe that's why no one ever leaves the Nest.

I think its one of the worst acronyms... I always get tripped up on it too.  it just doesnt makes sense.

I say all the letters out in my head like "Gee-bee-sea-inn" and it makes my accent come out stronger.

 Let's come up with a new acronym. What about 'eff you Nest'. So it could be 'FUN' or 'FYN' and that would sound like 'fin' and would be rather "poetic".

Yup, 'N' comes out as inn, rhymes with pin.

For some of you, I hear your voices when I read your posts... well, those of you who have voices in my head. KB, yours just TOTALLY changed! I don't know why I didn't realize you had an accent!

Y'all are cracking me up.  

I don't want you to get the idea that I sound like a hick, but I don't necessarily type the same way that I speak depending on the company I'm with. The southern accent comes out much stronger around family. Things like 'N' however are the same across the board.

Do you pronounce pin and pen the same way? For me, there is a distinction between the way I say them.

 

Aaaaaand so sorry Kaley for taking your post off on a tangent. I sincerely hope you don't G-bacon.

Yes Mamie, I'm such a language-lovin' nerd! And so often I wonder how everyone sounds and how I sound to everyone else. People sort of have voices for me, but not completely.

G-bacon is so funny but so doesn't make me think of not posting anymore.

I have a friend who says MELK and PELLOW.  It drives me crazy.

 

G-Bacon = so sad you're not on the nest anymore you sit around on the couch and shove your face with strips of bacon.

True story, I just said milk out loud about 20 times to see if it came out like similar to 'melk'. Thank goodness it doesn't.

Also, I've been meaning to tell you: Ya know how the title of your wedding album was the beginning of your H's last name and the end of yours? I thought it was so funny and you started being called that in my head for a while. But then, I thought that it would also be funny to combine the first letter of your last name with the rest of his. And that's your name in my head now.

Haha we were torn between which of the two we'd use if we combined our last names!!  We eventually decided that one that sounds like a mcdonald's special was funnier.

I love language too! I have a pretty strong Midwestern accent- people can always guess I'm from Chicago (although I don't say "Da Bears!")

I have never understood what GBCN/GBCK means to begin with.  I always just see it and think - ohhh there's another one I don't know!!  I am so bad at the lingo!  I do like G-Bacon though, that is now what I will say!  Kayley don't leave!!!
