Did you or will you get the H1N1 vaccine for your kids? We have a two year old, and I can't decide. Her doctor said it doesn't matter either way since she doesn't have any underlying medical conditions. I can't decide and have an appt on Monday!!!
Re: Moms
Both girls have the flu right now, the ER doc said most likely it is H1N1 because they both had their seasonal flu shots and the seasonal flu isn't reallly around yet, so I don't think we need to get the shot since we've been there and done that, lol.
I probably wouldn't do it even if they weren't both already infected. Even though my oldest has asthma the flu hasn't really done much to her other than make her miserable and get crazy high fevers mixed in with some puking for good measure.
I never had her get the flu vax until NJ public schools required it so maybe I'm not one to go by...
My daughter was born 5 weeks early (in January) and we are not getting it. I have a couple of reasons.
1 - Our pediatrician said he wouldn't give it to her until either DH or I had it first. He wanted to see if either of us had a reaction. Neither of us have been able to get it.
2 - There are no long term studies on the effects from receiving it. No one knows what will happen years down the road.
3 - A friends co-worker works for one of the pharma companys that is manufactoring the shot. He said he will not give it to his children. To me, that says it all.
Each family and situation is different though. Good luck with whatever decision you make.
