I only have the online code for the sale. Do you need a printable coupon to get the discount in-store?

I think you do need an actual coupon for in-store use. I know that some people on the F&B board have had success going into the store sans coupon, speaking to the manager and getting the discount using the line, "I'd rather see the money go towards my local store rather than the online entity, etc."
You can also use the promo code multiple times online.
