How much candy did you buy?

And did you buy more than you think you'll need so you'll have extra?

Re: How much candy did you buy?

  • I haven't bought any candy yet!  I need to go tomorrow.  I probably will wind up buying more than we need simply by buying 2 bags, so I make sure I only buy stuff both DH and I like.
  • We bought 5 bags - not the giant bags but the normal size snack size candy bars.  It should be plenty!
  • We bought 2 of the giant bags, but DH removed his favorite candy from one of them.  In reality, we have 1 1/2 bags.  We only moved into the neighborhood in March, so I have no idea how many trick or treaters we are going to get.  I'm afraid we didn't get enough!
  • I bought 3 bags, when I was buying I had no idea what to expect since we are new to the neighborhood but there are a lot of little kids on our block.

Now though DH and I decided to have a date night (since its an away football game we can go some place and it won't be super busy) so we won't be home. He wanted to leave the candy out in a bowl but I don't really want to do that. Would you just leave candy out if you weren't going to be home?

  • We bought one huge bag at BJs that is a combo bag.  I'm sure we'll have extra.

  • I feel a little like the Grinch this year, because none.

I bought tons of candy last year, and no one came.  I was majorly bummed.  I guess it's because we're located at the front of our development rather than inside the neighborhood.

Plus, trick-or-treat night fell on our anniversary, so we skipped handing out candy.  We took a dog for a walk during that time and saw the kids in costume that way instead.

  • We bought a variety bag from Sams..one of carmelly type candy and one fo Hersheys. I combined the two into little treat bags. The we ended up buying a few snack sized bags for us,too. lately I've been hankering for the chocolate...particularly frozen SnickersEmbarrassed

  • We also got a big bag at BJ's and we're half an hour into trick or treat here in Lancaster and have only had like a dozen kids. WTH Lancaster?

  • Last year I bought too much so this year DH bought the candy. It wasn't enough, we ran out the first hour. So DH bought more and we ran out again by 7:30....I'm buying the candy from now on. I'd rather have too much than not enough. It's embarrassing.
  • We moved last Dec so I asked my neighbor and she said she only got like 40 tops last year. I was afraid to run out and I thought there was no way we'd only have that many plus I'm in a new construction neighborhood and there's like 10 new houses since last year with some new kids. I got about 50. I bought 120. And they're big ones. I took it all to work but I did save a few of my faves out of it before I did. Next year I'll buy like 60 and if I run out just turn out the lights.
