Question of the Day 10/30

I know it's the Friday before Halloween, and since the boards are pretty quiet on the weekends, I wanted to ask this one today:

What was your favorite costume as a kid????

Happy Halloween!!!!

Re: Question of the Day 10/30

  • I dressed up as Pippi Longstocking & Ariel from the Little Mermaid.
      Those were my two faves.
  • OMG I was pippi longstonging one year too!  In fact, I was thinking about it the other day and it made me miss the movie, so I just bought it on amazon a few days ago.  Want to have a screening party?  Haha.

My favorite was probably Annie.  I wanted to be Annie every year, but my mom compromised and let me be Annie every-other year.  I was Annie at 3, 5, and 7.

Looking back though, the off years were the awesome costumes.  One year I was the statue of liberty, one year Pippi, one year Mini Mouse, A clown, a withc, a movie star.

This was my Pippi Longstocking doll and then my costume was an exact replica.  My hair was braided and sprayed red and my mom ran a clothes hanger through it.  It was so painful!!!!

  • Is it sad that I barely remember any costumes?   This will probably date me but I remember going to Woolworth's and all the costumes were in these cardboard boxes with a see thru lid.  You could see the mask thru the lid.  They had all the Superheroes and whatever was popular in the 70's.   The costumes were made out of cheap plastic that you would wear over your clothes and would tie in the back.   The mask had this one thin rubber band that was held together by a little staple.   There was a little slit for your tongue and so you could breathe.   No one really wore their masks on their faces (couldn't hardly see if you did), just on the top of their head.

Oh and forget it if it was cold out!  Wearing your jacket OVER your costume is just not cool!

  • When I was in third grade, my mom made me a red M&M costume.  I loved it!  M&Ms are my favorite candy, even to this day, so it was definitely appropriate.

  • One year I was a bag of jelly beans -- I stepped into a clear plastic garbage bag and filled it with mulit colored balloons to look like jelly beans.

I was a carebear one year too.
