Will your husband's job keep you here for a while?  Aka please don't move.

Thanks. :)  We'll be here until we decide to move.  In other words, we'd only move again if he was offered a higher position in another office.  We're so tired of moving, though, that it's hard to say if we'd ever move states again.  Three states in seven months is hard.

  • Do you believe in ghosts?

We did talk once about moving back to Texas if we ever got the chance.  Of course, it's easy to say we'd do that when we don't have children yet or anything.  Plus, we actually have a few friends here now, too.  Wink

I don't know.  After my grandfather died when I was 4, we moved into his house.  I used to think I could see him.  Weird, right?

I do believe in other life somewhere, though.  The universe is just way too big for there not to be something else out there, IMO.

What was your initial reaction to finding out you had to move around so much for your husband's job?

I was excited, for the most part.  I wasn't excited that I had to pack up my entire apartment (including tons of wedding gifts) in seven days.  I thought it would be like an adventure.  It's been pretty crazy, but I'm glad we did it.  Otherwise, I probably never would have moved away from Alabama.  Honestly, I kind of miss the thrilling anticipation I felt when we moved to Texas and before we moved here.  It's definitely nice to be settled, though, and to finally have some friends.  We didn't really meet people in Dallas, since we knew we'd only be there six months.

  • When is your birthday?

    August 7, 1985.

Same day as David Duchovny (but obviously not the same year).  I always loved that because I was (haha, still am) a huge X Files fan. :)

  • I'm sure you've said this at some point, but for the life of me I can't remember.  What does E do??  What company does he work for?  Just curious what it is that's moving you guys around so much.

And ditto what Star said.  No moving for you!  I haven't even gotten to meet you IRL yet, so we definitely get to keep you for a little while longer!  Wink

He is a surety bond underwriter for The Hartford.  He did six months of training in Dallas and then got sent to the regional office here.

Thanks.  We will have to meet in life!  No worries, I'm not going anywhere any time soon! Smile

  • Wow.  I just Googled "surety bond underwriter" and that was just way over my head!  Stick out tongue

    What did he major in?

  • clstarclstar member

Yeah, it's easier to hear it in person.  I've actually gotten good at explaining it, but only from hearing it explain it so many times!

He was a finance major.  He started interviewing for the job last April and was hired the last week of July.  He had to take a test after his first two phone interviews in order to go any further.  He was never told how he did until his boss in Dallas (one of two training offices) told him that he had the highest score out of all the trainees that had ever come through.  He's really good with numbers.  It also deals a lot with meeting contracters and going on agency visits, so he likes the half in the office, half out meeting people flow of it.  Did that make any sense?

  • Yep, makes sense.  And I can totally understand liking the half in the office, half out of the office aspect of the job.  It's nice when you can mix it up a little with a job.
