Visiting Portland this week!

Hey girls, I'm a RI nestie visiting Portland this week.... we're going to a wedding on Saturday but will be out there from tonight until Tuesday.  I've heard Portland is a fabulous city, but the near-newlyweds haven't given us any information about things to do in the area (I'm hoping for a welcome basket when we get to the hotel).  Any recommendations?

Thanks!

Dana

Re: Visiting Portland this week!

  • Starting today is the waterfront blues festival which is always great fun. The Rose Garden in Washington Park is very pretty. If you want to head out of town you can visit Multnomah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge and drive along the old CRG highway. Or you can go wine tasting in the Willamette Valley. Check out the OregonGetaways bio it may have more ideas.
  • Saturday Market is fun to walk around (it is downtown under the burnside bridge and is open Sundays too). If you're book readers, check out Powells (huge new and used bookstore) on Burnside. There is also a Portlandbio.

  • see bio for tons of ideas. There's a link to OregonGetaways in bio too if you want to explore a bit of Oregon.
  • A few of my favorite things:

Multnomah falls, crown point, Tads Chicken and dumplings restaurant, Bridgeport shopping, Powells books, The Pearl district, 23rd st, the outside bar/eating area at Henry's, Portland City Grill's bar, St. Cupcake, sunday brunch at Salty's on the Columbia river, hmm I am sure there are more but these are my top favorites
