DH and I are planning to visit Vegas and LA during Christmas for vacation. We have enver visited the west coast so we are excited about it.Can you please give us recommendations for great restaurants, shopping and nightlife. What is the best area for us to stay in? We would like to be near all of the activitied if we can? How is the weather in December there? A coworker mentioned that we should visit Catalina. Can anyone tell me more about it?
TIA
Re: Christmas in LA
Hi there. If you are looking to be "near" everything, you definately want to stay somewhere in or near Hollywood or Downtown LA. There's tons of good restaurants and bars and nightclubs in the area. Depending on what you are into, you can just walk up and down Hollywood Blvd and see what you find. The weather in December is unpredictable, it could be be in the 80's or cold and rainy. You just never know. Catalina is a small island off the coast and like PP said, it's so small there aren't cars. It's really charming but depending on the weather, you may not be able to do much while you're there. Except some sightseeing and eating. Good luck!
It depends on what you want to do. If money is no object, The Standard is a good hotel and pretty central to things. Also, The Renaissance puts you on the corner of Hollywood and Highland where alot of sightseeing things are. Garumen's is right around the corner. A cab can get you anywhere. There's a number of great clubs. The Beauty Bar is always pretty fun. They play good music. Not really sure if anyone can come out this way and not go to Disneyland. It's about an hour and a half away.
In Vegas, the Treasure Island is a great hotel and not too expensive. The Bar At Times Square is a bar in the New York, New York hotel where they do dueling pianos. Very fun.
