Where are all the trick-or-treaters???

Well I got all costumed up early because I didn't think I would be able to during trick-or-treat hours. Guess I was wrong. I was so excited to give out candy.

Re: Where are all the trick-or-treaters???

  • I know! I have a ton of candy because there are so many kids around in our apartment complex. we are almost 90 minutes in and not one kid!

  • Last year I went through 3 bags, this year I'm only given our about a 1/4 of a bag. I have 20 minutes left.
  • we had three rounds of kids. the first round was just one kid, then a group of about 8 or so, then 2.

    boo!

  • Booo is right.  And thist is my first TotT in my first home.;-(  I even got the good candy,

    nothing
  • We didnt have any TOT'ers either.  We just bought a house the beginning of the year (were in an apt before) and were so hoping to have TOT'ers finally.  We bought 4 bags of candy for it too!  We live on a short cul-de-sac road and turns out its too dark (we dont have a street light) for the kids to venture down.

My husband and I decided to reverse TOT.  We made up a few ziploc bags of the candy we had and took them to our neighbors!  It was fun.

  • We got 18! My parents had about 80. (My mom counted so I decided to have DH do that same as he was the one passing out candy). And maybe 6 of those 18 didn't wear any kind of costume. Even more frustrating, the amount of kids (older) that didn't say trick or treat or thank you. One kid just came up and said "I'm so tired. Can I have some candy?" Really?! Where are their manners? Or am I totally crazy to expect a thank you for giving them candy?
  • We had over 250.  The last 10  or so were out of luck...we only had 248 treats to give out, and I know others had run out and already stopped giving treats by then, too.

  • I think that there are just less and less people celebrating Halloween maybe? I had a Kindergartner tell me this week Mrs. Johnson, we don't celebrate halloween because my mom says its the day of the devil. Some people don't believe in it and don't go out trick or treating, or they maybe just don't want their kids to have all the candy? I also noticed that we did not have that many either. It seemed any time after 6 we only had about 2 groups that came after that time and even before then, there were not that many trick-or-treaters.

  • We had 1/3-1/2 of the kids we normally get. I assume the flu, or maybe fear of the flu, kept people in. Lack of costumes surely didn't :-/
  • We had 12 kids (12!) between 7pm and 9pm.  I bought 4 bags of candy which is now sitting hidden under my cabinets so I don't eat it.  We even set up a mini haunted house and got dressed up.  I do have the say that the kids that came by got HUGE handfuls of candy.

I don't think we will give out candy next year.  It was so disappointing!  We spoke with a few neighbors and they admitted our neighborhood is always quiet on Halloween.
