I have a question

ND is playing in Texas and they are playing up the fact that this is great for their recruiting and gives them great exposure and taps a state they have very little recruits from, but the NCAA cancelled a practice that Ohio State has scheduled in state at a local college this summer quoting that it would give OSU an unfair edge in recruiting....um, isn't a night game under the lights on national TV a little more of an edge than a summer practice in state?

Re: I have a question

  • Maybe it's just my upbringing, but I feel like ND doesn't need all that much extra help in recruiting. Don't you just have to watch Rudy? Stick out tongue DH is a HUGE ND fan, and he's SUPER confused about why they're giving up a home game in ND Stadium to play in TX? IDK.

That's odd that they wouldn't allow OSU to just do a PRACTICE elsewhere. Maybe because it was at a college, as opposed to a field that isn't utilized by any football team on a regular basis like the alamodome?

  • a practice is different. A game can be played anywhere as long as the two teams agree. There are tons of games played in neutral sites.

  • Oh and they aren't giving up a home game in the traditional sense. They added an extra one. We are doing this every year now. Next year we are playing Army in Yankee Stadium.

If he's such a big ND fan, he should know that ;)

  • Irish my dear...what makes a closed practice at a secure facility different than a huge well publicized night game?  I have pondered this all weekend :)

ETA: when I was very little you had a choice in my grandparents house for Saturday football...you could cheer for ND (I swear my gma still crosses herself when she says ND...it's a hoot) or Ohio State...I chose Ohio State because I liked their uniforms better :)

I honestly don't know, but its NCAA rule related. Its not like ND was getting special treatment is my point :D
