Where to get professional pictures taken?

We want to get Audrey's 3 month pictures taken in a few weeks. Please recommend a place in the Lansing area. We did her one month pictures at Portrait Innovations, but it was a zoo in there and the photographer did a crappy job!

Where do you go? Thanks

  • We went to portrait innovations again.  We didn't care for them last time we went, but this time was better.  I guess it depends on who you get.

She is an amazing photographer in Holt. You can go here and check out her gallery. She has taken our engagement, wedding, family, newborn and more photos. She does great work and a very reasonable price for a professional photographer. You can go here and hover over "Investment" then pick which category you are looking for to see how much her packages are. A lot of Nesties have gone to her and I haven't heard one negative comment yet!

  • We went to Portrait Innovations as well.    I really liked the photographer and how the pictures turned out, but we had a couple of problems when we picked up the photos.  There is a new place at the Meridian Mall I might check out, but I'd also go back here.

  • If your looking for a studio, here's my recommendation. I have used Portrait Innovations and JCPenney (Lansing Mall). Personally, I like JCP better because you can mix and match poses in different sizes and buy by the sheet. I always get a better variety that way. Portrait innovations does take a lot more pictures but they are usually lower quality (poor lighting, focus, etc) and they sell by the package so while the first pose package is cheap (like $10), if you add 2-3 poses your up in like the $70 range... plus we have so many pictures left over that we never used buying that way. Portrait innovations doesn't let you purchase the proofs, you just get a free CD of all the images if you order 3+ poses (they don't allow for you to purchase it separately). One good thing about PI is you get the pictures right away. With JCP you have to wait 2 weeks but I think the better quality is worth the wait. JCP lets me order just what I need and I always leave with enough pictures for us and family, a variety of poses and smilesbywire (all the photos emailed to you for $5), all for like $30. Also, most of these studios, no matter where you go, are busier in the evening or on weekends. I like to schedule pictures at like noon on a weekday if possible so I don't feel rushed during the shoot or when picking out the pictures afterwards. HTH!
  • I use Jessica Cornman Photography. Her prices are great and her pictures are all unique.
