Weekend Recap

Is everyone feeling refreshed with thier extra hour of sleep? How was your weekend? What'd you do?

Re: Weekend Recap

  • Can I just start by saying how much I adore "falling back"?????  Yes, it is really going to be crappy having it get dark so early (I hate that), but my tired pregnant body loved the extra hour!  We definitely benefited from the extra hour - we were up "earlier" than usual since it felt later, and were able to get a lot done yesterday without feeling rushed.  Loved it.

Anywho - we saw my family on Saturday and were very pleasantly surprised by the reaction over at my mom's house.  Everyone was thrilled! So now there are no more secrets, and we've announced the baby on facebook, lol.  It was a good day with family, followed by a yummy dinner together and a quiet night at home.

Sunday C was a saint and did the grocery shopping in the morning (she's a shoe-in for wife of the year award).  Then we went to Babies R Us where I taught C about things like the snap and go and infant car seats Wink.  We had fun browsing high chairs, strollers and bouncy seats, and picked up a couple of little sleepers that were on sale Smile.  I also bought some Preggie Pops (I'm experiencing new and improved nausea now that the old nausea is gone) and Belly Bars, which I'm excited to try.

Then we headed over to Old Navy to return a couple maternity things I ordered that I didn't like, and I found a purple cotton dress tagged $14 (I have the same dress in black that I paid $25 for), so I grabbed that, and it ended up ringing up at $7!!!! My best maternity bargain to date! What did people do before Old Navy Maternity???

Sunday afternoon we got some things done at home, including setting our holiday shopping budget.  I have officially begun shopping now - I ordered something online for my sister!  All in all it was a great weekend!

  • Friday night we went to their friend's preschool/church since they were doing trunk-or-treating. Parishioners had decorated their trunks and kids went from car to car playing little games and getting candy/prizes. The kids had a blast (aside from the 10 seconds we lost Gray and I found him 10ft away sobbing and surrounded by concerned parents. Oops )

Saturday - during the night Carter had woken with a fever and I just gave him Motrin without taking his temp. When I finally took it at 7:30am, it was 104.3. Indifferent Leanne decided to stay home with him and do school stuff while I took Gray to sports class and to a performance at a kids' theatre (we had planned on meeting a co-worker of mine.) After sports, I called home to find that Carter had no interest in resting and wanted to play pirates (what kid with a temp over 104 wants to play pirates???) and L wasn't feeling great - so we ditched the show and came home to play pirates. The rest of the day was spent hanging out at home and trying to convince the kids it wasn't time to put on their costumes yet! We did let Carter go trick-or-treating to a few houses since we figured he wasn't going to touch anyone or really interact with them (and he didn't have a fever at that point.) After about 6 houses, he was ready to come home - so we hung out in the driveway and watched the kids in the neighborhood walk around till 8ish. We found out Grayson is OBSESSED with candy. Stick out tongue

Sunday - L and I cleaned the house from top to bottom while trying to entertain/cuddle with the kids. Carter's fever came and went a few times during the day - but not nearly as high as Saturday. Gray and L ran over to Target and to pick up Mexican for dinner. Carter was asleep by 5 (just woke long enough to drink some milk and get off our bed and into his bed) and Gray (who didn't nap all day) was in bed by 7. L worked on stuff she didn't do during the day while I caught up on DVR, watched Milk again, and I fell asleep by 9:30. It felt like the longest day ever.

L took Gray to school this morning and I am home with Carter who seems to feel fine (but hasn't been fever free for 24 hours) - THIS is when I really miss having a nanny. Wink

  • I loooved getting that extra hour of sleep :) coupled with a relatively quiet weekend where we could sleep in, it was great!

Friday we met up with a friend and when to six flags (an amusement park) for thier fright fest.  As always, I was the screamer in the group and all the warewolves, witches, chain saw murderers, ect targeted me. I get scared really easily so they always have fun following me around.

Saturday we slept in and i ran a bunch of errands while A did yardwork. Then i did some baking (yummy spider web cookies!) and got ready for TOTers.  Not a single one showed!  what a bummer. At night we went to a halloween party at a friends house which was a lot of fun...i was long overdue for a few glasses of "bat's blood" hehe.

Sunday was a lazy morning though I eventually made my way to the office and got some work done for a few hours. Then we had some friends come over to help us with the basement project and I was so impressed by how much we got done!  We sealed and painted the walls (although A decided she doesnt love the color so I'm going to re-paint them tonight) and painted the floor.  Let me tell you, painting a basement floor makes such a huge difference!! We almost skipped it since we are going to roll out carpeting, but i'm glad we didn't. it just looks so much cleaner and pulled together now.  The pool table is being delivered next monday at which point we might actually have a usable basement (well, half a basement) :)

  • I was hesitant to post this, but I know how understanding this board is Big Smile

Okay, I will be the first to admit it...I am such a prudeWhisper; I have nothing to do with halloween...I even had trouble with the way All Saints Day was presented at Church yesterday. This was quite the topic for discussion in our household this weekend. C always knew how I felt about halloween, but it is different now that there will be two kids in the house. Needless to say, I had my "Zan" (short for tarzan) moments this weekend...but we will see come next October 31st (I am sure someone would have found some cute little outfit that I just cave into letting the kids wearConfused). But as for this halloween, lights were outYes. I feel better now that I let my "prudish" ways out of the closet...but I have to confess, at work we had halloween candy and I did eat some. C did not hesitate in the slightest to remind me of that. Embarrassed

C suffers from terrible migraines, so a lot of the weekend was spent quietly. However, Saturday was spent trying to clear out some of the office, which will eventually be the nursery.

Sunday we had the pastoral candidate give his sermon...I guess you can call it an "interview" sermon. He will do another sermon next Sunday and then the congregation will vote whether or not to accept him. I am sure he will be accepted...that is typically how it works. I was in such a FOUL mood yesterday and I think I was the only one who did not clap when he finished his sermon. I am the worship coordinator for the early service and there was something he did that urked me...I probably woke up in a FOUL mood. C caught onto the fact that I was in a FOUL mood and bought me a gumball at the restaurant where we had breakfast...it brought a smile to my face...gumballs are my weakness. Then when I openly admitted I was in a FOUL mood...I spelled out F-O-W-L, and C replied, only if you are talking about the avian flu. I laughed so hard, and told her how much I loved her. We went home and she put me to sleep (by rubbing my head) in hopes of me waking up in a better mood...which I did. The only really sad part was that I woke up to see our fantasy football team was getting spanked!

Today, I had a GYN appointment early and unfortunately somethings have not resolved...just another thing for C to have to worry about...I hate that.

    That sums up the weekend!

  • friday we did some baby shopping. saturday we got a bunch of stuff done around the house. we cleaned up my office and organized the nursery a bit, even with sleeping way in and me taking an extended nap in the evening. stupid head cold.

yesterday, though, i was so, so happy! i had a big surprise for my wife and i managed to keep it a secret for almost two whole months! we have a friend who lives in amsterdam so we don't get to see her very often at all. when we went to london to visit c's sister a few years ago we also went to amsterdam and stayed with our friend for almost a week, and she came to visit for a few days over a year ago, but other than that it's internet and occasional phone contact only. well, she came into town for a surprise visit and we all got together. you should have seen my wife's face when our friend opened the door! she was so happy to see her and it was so much fun hanging out with everyone. we're going out to dinner tonight, and i'm really looking forward to it.

  • Saturday K and I putzed around town and ran some errands.  I bought a much needed second pair of maternity jeans at Macy's for only $21.99 (less than my Old Jeans!) and a new pair of black flats since I've given up on heels.  Because our dogs bark at every ToTer we decided to set up a spooky table on the front porch and let kids take their own candy.  We only had about 20 kids stop by so this worked out well.  We watched some old horror flicks (think, the original Mummy) and I feel asleep early.

Sunday was a very productive day.  I continued to purge stuff from my office and moved a bunch of my books to the bookshelves in the basement.  I also went through all of my cds to make sure everyone was in the right case and right spot.  Oh, and I cleaned out the linen closet in my bathroom getting rid of extra towels, flat iron, etc. And put stuff to sell up on craigslist.  Of course as I'm doing all of this K says she knows I'm only doing it to make room for baby stuff - lol!

I suppose it was another weekend which any major events but it was a nice weekend all the same :-)

  • We had a super lazy weekend. Just relaxing, watching movies, and passing out candy on Saturday. Sunday night we enjoyed our extra hour, then went to dinner at our friends Ro & Pat's house... where we had a great meal, then got to watch their 9 month old try her first (little) piece of pumpkin pie. So cute!  Smile

ETA: Wow, total pregnacy brain moment... I completely forgot that I had a hair appointment on Saturday, so was up by my parents. It was nice to see them, and since it had been a few weeks, then hadn't seen my belly since it popped. My mom was adorable, and was like, I have to touch!! Lol.

  • I was out of town at a work conference this weekend. So actually, the extra hour of sleep kinda sucked b/c it exacerbated my jet lag.  I worked most of the weekend and spent way too much time feelings sorry for myself. I did manage to hop on an earlier flight home last night, which was awesome.

Meanwhile, E was a great wife as always, and took care of a whole bunch of house projects while I was away. She also got have some quality time with her "adopted" sister.  I'm going to be out of town this weekend as well, this time for a whole week.

This is a dumb question, but I am curious what the reservations about halloween are. Is it a religious thing?

Not a dumb question at all. For me it has to do with an extreme case of OCD and one Scripture I read quite awhile back. I have never been able to shake it.

  • We had such a nice weekend!

On Saturday we found out we won second place in our buildings decorating contest which made me really happy! We took the girls shopping and they both behaved the entire time. We found some great deals and I found their matching holiday PJ's to boot! PBS stole something from a store though. We stopped to talk and when we looked in the stroller she was chewing on a package of tights. OOPS! We returned them but thought it was pretty funny. Our little thief :-)

TOTing was a blast. The girls looked so cute in their oufits and LMC LOVED it. We thought she might be scared but she kept asking for "more house". She cried when we had to go home, and even though she was exhausted, she clutched her bag of goodies and kept saying "more" until she fell asleep. ADORABLE!

Sunday we spent some time with family. They love the girls and it's so nice to watch them get spoiled and loved so much.

  • Our weekend started early on Friday with C taking a personal day and me leaving work early for our 2pm home inspection. It went pretty well--all the major stuff has been updated, we requested a couple things from the sellers and made a To Do list for after closing.

Saturday we spent the morning at home and then went to a local outdoor  shopping center and browsed Crate & Barrel. We found a bed frame we both like so we're going to add that to the wish list but also look for less expensive options. Then we went to Land of Nod to look at kids decor. The shopping center has a TOT thing so we saw some adorable costumes before heading home. Saturday was date night so we walked to dinner. C asked me if I wanted a drink and I reminded her we're in the tww now. LOL.

Sunday we spent most of the day at home--including a nap!--and then had dinner with C's sister and brother-in-law.

  • We bought a car, a Kia SOUL and we LOOOOOOVE it. We drove it off the lot with 10miles on it. It has 300 now, but thats mostly because we spent the weekend driving around showing people.

And it's so fun to drive, but the major selling point was the AMAZING warranty. YAYA!!

  • Our weekend started early since we both had Friday off to go to our RE appointment. Our appointment was great and we are both so incredibly excited. I didn't know it was possible----but I am just more and more in love with DW every single day. There is no one I'd rather go through the process with and I'm so lucky that she's mine. Excuse the gushing....we just really had a fabulous weekend. The rest of the weekend was spent doing chores, puttng the final touches on the outside of the house for Halloween, cooking and entertaining. Yesterday we both got our hair cut and colored and then spent the rest of the day lounging on the couch and alternating between watching football and baseball.

  • Friday night we relaxed

Saturday my parents came over for dinner and we handed out candy and watched the great pumpkin on dvr.

Sunday we went to my mil's house for a birthday celebration for bil.  It was nice but I was a little pissed.  My sil texted S in the morning saying that her daughter has a cold and was sneezing and would keep her home if we wanted her to.  We said it would like her to do that since Ella could become very ill if she catches even a regular cold.  I told S that  I would stay home with E if it wre easier.  Sil texts back and says she and my niece and nephew would not be going because my bil had to work and so she would have to stay home with the sick niece.  When we arrive at mil I see sil's car but thought that was because whe was dropping a gift off.  Well my mil greets me at the car and says Sil and kids are in the house but they know now to go near E!  Nothing I could do without throwing a mega fit but I was pissed.  Obviously sil called my mil and said she wasn't coming and mil vetoed my wishes.  Fun Fun

I am over it (kind of) but I am going to make S talk to mil about respecting our wishes.  Unfortunatly S is not as rigid about the bringing the baby around people and thinks I am over protective.  I may email the Dr so she can talk to S about what is ok and what is not!
