What to get in-laws who live in Florida??

We live in Canada. My inlaws spend their winter months in Delray Beach, Fl. They do come here for two weeks.

They are the kind of people who have everything, so they like gifts that are "an experience." A few years ago, DH had a great business year and sent them on a cruise. This year, a cruise is out of the question price-wise.

We are looking for something that they can do in the Delray/Ft lauderdale area sometime before April. They are open to pretty much anything. We need something we can buy over the phone wtih a credit card.

Any ideas???

  • I meant to add about $500 price limit, total. $300 would be ideal.

  • I send people like that food.  Booze, gourmet gift baskets, home baked goodies, etc.

See they are kind of ridiculous about what they eat. They only drink in moderation and they dont eat many sweets. Something to do with a health-food store might be more up their alley.

  • -tickets to a show (check out ticketmaster to see what's playing in their area...I'm sure there's something they might like),,,

Look online and see if there is a health food coo-opm (or whole foods, etc) in their area.  Call and ask if they do gift packages of some sort.  Our Co-op actually does cooking classes, so maybe you could find something like that.

Find a local theater or university that hosts concerts/plays/etc, adn give them the booklet of the season of performances, and black out the ticket prices.  Have them pick what performance they want to go to, and buy them tickets and give them a 50-100$ gift card to a restaurant near the theater.

Find a B&B a few hours away from where they live, and get them a night at a B&B and a dinner GC to a nearby restaurant.

  • I grew up that area, so many fun things to do. Delray is really neat, I love it there. Have you looked into the Sundy House? It's an awesome quaint hotel with koi ponds and an amazing restaurant. That is my favorite place in Delray.?

Also the Morikami museum is interesting and may be worth looking into.

What also comes to mind is The Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach. The spa there is wonderful if they like that and also, Sunday Brunch there is legendary. My friends and I used to celebrate our special occasions at brunch there. It's a bit pricy at $100 or so/person but so worth it. We would sip mimosas all afternoon and sample all of the amazing dishes. It's definitely an experience.

Also as PP mentioned, you can check the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach--during season especially there are always big productions coming to town--ballets, operas etc...Also right by the theater is Ruth Chris' steakhouse which does prix fix menus. HTH and GL!

PS-I never have come onto this board before so I may forget to check it. If you have more specific questions, you can page me on the fashion & beauty board. Good luck!?

  • I think those Gift of the Month clubs are neat.  Like, beer of the month, wine of the month, that type of thing.  Also, try giftybox.com.  It's more of an experience type gift. I got my sister the adventure box, which was realy cool, but they also have different kinds of boxes.
