what's the deal with Danebo? The houses there seem to be pretty affordable...How's the neighborhood?

Re: Danebo...
Danebo is a new home development in Eugene. Are you familiar with Ladera Ranch? Well the homes look just like that (but with out the price, HOA's and mello roos). $60 per qt in HOAs. Here they call them factory homes because the homes are built elsewhere and bought to Danebo in pieces to be put together. Many Californians live in Danebo. It's about 10 min from downtown and shopping areas.
Other areas are South Hills and Goodpasture Island Road(where we live). Ferry Street near Danebo is also building right now.
There no Eugenians on this board (that I know) so I'm so excited to finally be of help!!!!
BTW- Like you we were fed up of So Ca. After our lease ended in May making our rent so high we decided to just move here without visiting firts. We had visited WA and TX to see if that's where we wanted to live but in the end OR always seemed to be what we wanted. We have no kids or roots in CA so nothing was holding us to not try something new. We figured if we did not like it or missed our family too much, we would just move back and be in the same place where we were before... renting. Thanks goodness it's just beautiful.
Danebo are manufactured homes...we didn't like them much either but they are very affordable. You can design them however you want but many lack backyard space and are cheaply made...fixtures, granite, laminate floors, etc...
I can't tell you much about Springfield other than what I've heard...it's the ugly sister of Eugene but the city wants to remodeled and it's supposed to be changing for the better. Starting with Sacred Heart hospital built and opening in August...it blows Hoag Hospital in Newport away! DH got a job their so we got the tour. Other than the hospital I have oly seen dilapited homes, a lot of unkept lawns. I have heard there is new develpment far in the outskirts but we have not bee there yet.
