Is it bad that we've lived in our house for 6 months now and still haven't introduced ourselves to the neighbors. (I hate winter, so that was my excuse for the longest time... to cold to go knocking on doors!) Guess we like to keep to ourselves! Anyhow, an older couple moved into the house closest to us (in a new subdivision) about 4 lots over... I'm thinking of introducing myself this weekend (now that I'm not working 14 hours days due to the new fiscal year).
Any ways you like neighbors introducing themselves? I was going to give our cell phone numbers to them as well. Not that we will hand out with them much since they are quite older than us, but still want to welcome them to the neighborhood!
Re: Knowing your neighbors
I am a firm believer in being friendly when you see someone. We moved into an apartment complex at the end of May and have the strangest people in our building. I always smile and say hello, but several of the people seem to struggle with this concept and appear to be in pain when they respond.
I cannot wait until we get a house. Growing up, we had great neighbors and I hate not having that here!
I know what you mean. We moved into our house in May and so far have only met the neighbors directly behind us. And that is only because our dogs like to bark at their dogs. If I see someone outside I smile and wave but other than that I have no clue who they are. It's weird because growing up I always knew my neighbors. I think that if anyone new was to move into the neighborhood I would go over and introduce myself too. We will probably introduce ourselves to our neighbors sometime but hopefully it is sooner than later.
