Re: A Poll!
1. Name and Location, please.
Kelly, Indianapolis
2. What has been keeping you so busy this summer?
Work, arranging and going to fun events, volunteering for a campaign and heading up the flood relief efforts for my church.
3. Describe your favorite vacation ever.
Dubin, Ireland & some Irish countryside- Rome and Venice,Italy and then Germany (for the world cup) If I could live anywhere, and money was a non-issue, it would be Venice. I absolutely adore that city!
4. Baseball- america's pastime or long and boring?
Teeball is great to watch live and I love going to an Indians game a few times a year... but wathing the majors on TV makes me want to poke my eyeballs out!
5. What is one thing your DH that drive you nuts?
Hmmm... which one to choose? On a rare occasion when he cooks, he uses a MILLION pots and pans and ends up dirtying every corner of the kitchen. Honestly- I don't think I could use as many dishes and/or get the place as messy if I tried! It's my job to wash dishes (he does all laundry), so maybe that's why I'm a little bitter about the clean up!
6. And one thing that is just adorable you decide to keep him?
(sorry, meant SO adorable you decide to keep him)
When he really laughs an honest "gut" laugh, he squints his eyes and bobs his head and it makes me smile so much on the inside because he is so genuinely happy. I've never told him how much I love that- I'm afraid he'd alter it because he thinks I'm teasing him or something!
5. What's your favorite thing to cook these days?
Grill out! Lovin' the fresh veggies on the grill. Peppers, onions, zucchini... doesn't matter! I also have fallen in love with the bacon at Goose the Market. I sneak a piece into many things I cook for an added punch.
7. How are the kiddos and/or How is babymaking and/or How is enjoying the no-kids life going?
We're enjoying no kids and planning impromptu travel. We're enjoying thinking about planning and trying to figure out when DH is going to graduate so that we can get started.
8. Sparklers- dangerous or fun?
Eeks. I hate sparklers and any kind of home firework. I realize it's a little irrational, but they totally creep me out!
9. What book are you reading right now?
Under the Banner of Heaven, about Mormonism. Very interesting book club read.
10. Any major house improvements or purchases lately?
No big purchases. Since we may move in about a year or so, there really is no reason to do any major updates or improvements. Just maintenance at this point, really! I am looking for some sort of ecclectic coffeetable/ottoman for the living room.
1. Name and Location:
Christine in Fishers
2. What has been keeping you so busy this summer?
Working and getting the house cleaned out/organized/ready for this baby. (Actually, more than getting it ready for the baby specifically, I'm trying to prepare to have a lot less time...)
3. Describe your favorite vacation ever:
Hmmmm... I've got a three way tie and I liked each for a different reason. I loved our Caribbean cruise honeymoon. It was my first vacation with DH and it was so fun to hang out together. (Awesome islands & awesome ship too!) I really liked Maine - so relaxing and beautiful. We stayed at Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. The area is beautiful and the town had lots of great little restaurants. The last of my three favorites was South Africa. So different than I had expected! The first week was along the coast, starting in Cape Town. Very European feeling and gorgeous rugged coast. Then Durban, Swaziland, and Kruger National Park were much more like I had expected Africa to look like. Loved the Safari in Kruger!
4. Baseball- america's pastime or long and boring?
Fun to watch once in a while. Lots of fun to see in person.
5. What is one thing your DH that drive you nuts?
He snores - really, really loud!
6. And one thing that is just adorable you decide to keep him?
He's really sweet. He does all kinds of stuff around the house, usually vacuums and mops, takes care of all the yard work. He's really great with my geriatric dog too, especially for someone that doesn't care for dogs all that much...
5. What's your favorite thing to cook these days?
Love to grill - did I mention that DH does all the grilling? Well, I do get everything ready and fix all the sides. Earlier this week we had German Potato Salad that turned out pretty good.
7. How are the kiddos and/or How is babymaking and/or How is enjoying the no-kids life going?
Surprise Baby is due in 8 weeks. Going well. Really excited about this baby and can't wait to see and hold him or her! And I'll be really glad when I'm not pregnant anymore!
8. Sparklers- dangerous or fun?
A little of both...
9. What book are you reading right now?
Lots of pregnancy & baby books. Recently finished The Pillars of the Earth and My Sister's Keeper.

4. Baseball- america's pastime or long and boring? Very boring unless you're at the game.
5. What is one thing your DH that drive you nuts? He will start the laundry and tell me that he'll keep it going, but then it's like he forgets and I'll end up finishing it, ugh!

5. What's your favorite thing to cook these days? Anything on the grill really and all kinds of yummy sweets!

5. Nothing? I haven't had the time or the budget these days, but I LOVE to cook a variety of ethnic foods -- Greek, Thai, Brazilian, etc
7. Things are going well. The family plans have been pushed back a bit with the layoff/new job and I need to feel around the new job to see if they will continue to send me off for 3+ weeks at a time if I decide to get pregnant/new mom.
8. Both? I always managed to burn myself as a kid.
9. Nothing fun --- tons of Army Corps reading and other boring work-related stuff. Either that or scientific papers for my master's project.
10. Yes and no. I finally bought the mirror and light to finish off the master bathroom. I still need to get the vanity top and faucet, but I can at least start painting everything and putting in the new fixtures.

Well, pulled a Samantha (any SATC fans?) and bought myself a diamond- not a huge one, just a solitaire pendant. DH got a PS3, so it is a trade off.
We are getting ready to redo our bathroom downstairs and did our dining room floors not to long ago (see pic below). We're considering putting the house in the market in the next year or so- so we'll be doing a lot of de-cluttering, small updates and neutral painting! Think "Designed to Sell"- that will be my life for awhile. I've become an HGTV junkie- I am SO a product of my demographic!

Fun poll!!

1. Haley, Indianapolis (too close to the ghetto!)
2. KIDS! I'm back at work and this is really the first I've worked a normal job & normal hours in about 2 years....plus having to think about who picks the kids up, making sure DD is pooping on a daily basis, and trying to keep DS from breaking both arms at the same time by jumping off some way-to-high area of the furniture.
3. Myrtle Beach - it's about our 'default' location...we've been a few times but my fave time was when DH proposed to me.
