Vacation with a baby?

DH is taking a week off at the end of the month and I was trying to think of somewhere we can go (not too far away) with a 3 month old.  Any suggestions?

Re: Vacation with a baby?

  • Somewhere inside or not very hot.  Nothing is worse than an overheated baby.  Book a hotel on beach somewhere, at least you will have a breeze.  We like to cruise but cruises are super expensive and tend to sell out during the summer.

DH and I try to vacation before school gets out and after school goes back.  Our favorite months are April, May, October and November.  Hardly anybody travels during these months and there are tons of deals.  Even if you can wait until the last week of August you will get a better deal.

  • I would just stay home and sleep as much as possible!  Wink

Seriously, though, I wouldn't suggest anything longer than like a 4 hour car ride.  We went to Alabama when Rylie was 4 1/2 months old.  It was a 7 hour ride and she did pretty good on the way up, but the ride back wasn't so great.

And I agree with PP...do something that you won't be outside much.  I don't know about your little cutie, but Rylie gets real hot, real fast.  And that just equals fussiness.

    Have fun!!!!

  • It really depends on how you feel. Your daughter was only 2 oz bigger than, my son, he was 5 lbs 9 oz. We took our son with us and spent the night at the Hard Rock Hotel. We just sort of walked around with him, then would go inside the room to cool off. Good luck finding something. I would try to find something inside. It is so humid out there!
  • I second the beach idea....you can take your little one out to the beach in the morning and late afternoon hours without a problem.
