Nearby hiking recommendations?

DH and I are going to be in Vegas and want to do some hiking one day.  Last time we visited we went to Zion and want to try somewhere new.

Re: Nearby hiking recommendations?

  • Red Rock is a great place to go hiking it has so many trails depending on your experience level
  • Red Rock is really good. There are lots of trails at diff. levels. Also I havent done this trail but i hear its really nice: lake mead railroad tunnel trail.

  • Red Rock is great.  Also, just north of Zion is Bryce Canyon.  It has amazing views!

  • Red Rock is great for a short day hike. Mt. Charelston would also be okay this time of year. Some of the leaves will be changing and my favorite hike is maryjane falls.

There are also some great hikes by Hoover Dam. There is a trail that goes down into the canyon that has a few different hot spring pools. The turn off is kind of hard to see and I forgot the mile marker but I'm sure local hiking blogs/sites would have more info. Another good hike by the Dam are the WWII lookout bunkers. You can start at the Dam for those hikes.

If you don't mind traveling up to UT try Snow Canyon or Bryce Canyon.
