Hi Ladies,
I'm contemplating a move to San Antonio in?the?next 1-2 years. I'm currently in the military so I'd have to wait until my enlistment is up. With my military background I should be able to land a job at Kelly/Lackland AFB with a decent salary. My DH & I are looking to buy a house in the 170-210K range, We have 2 kids under 2 and are planning on #3 very soon. I am interested in going back to school and was thinking abut becoming a teacher. Oh yeah, one last thing .. my DH & son both have asthma.
Ok. that's me in a nutshell.
Now, you're turn. How do you like living in San Antonio? I've always lived in a small town, any small towners out there? Is it easy to adjust.
What are the communities/schools like? Any recommended schools or neighborhoods?
How about things to do- what do you guys do for fun on?the?weekends?
How long do you spend commuting??
And last Q- would you recommend San Antonio to others as a place to live and raise small children?
Thanks in advance,
Stacy?

Re: Mving to SA- Opinions/Advice?
Hi Stacy--I'm not from a small town but I grew up in Ft. Worth so it felt like a small town by the time I left. I do love San Antonio and would recommend getting involved in a few recreational activites so that you get to know more people right away which will help SA not feel so big once you are here. In my opinion the best school districts are the Northside ISD, North East ISD, and Alamo Heights ISD. I think that there is traffic everywhere in San Antonio but if you live pretty close to your base then your commute time shouldn't be more than 20-30 minutes at any time. I think San Antonio is a great place for kids, we have Six Flags, Sea World, a great zoo and tons of parks. If you want specific neighborhood recommendations shoot me an email with what kind of home/neighborhood you would like. Older homes/newer homes. A neighborhood with lots of kids and a community pool or more privacy? One story/two story etc. I'm a real estate agent and can send you actual MLS listings so that you can see what your budget would purchase if you are interested in taking a look through a few photos before making any decisions. Have a great night! jennifersimko@kw.com Thanks!

Hi there
we just moved here from DC 2 months ago and so far we love it. My husband is AD Air Force and is at Lackland. We live ina new development not too far from base and he take literally 5 minutes to get to work. My commute is about 30 minutes... but nothing bad at all.. I have yet to see hair pulling traffic... then again after battling DC traffiv anything is better. HTH
I think I have heard that SA is like #2 for allergies. You might want to do some research on that.
SA is probably nice to raise a family. I moved here from Austin 4 1/2 years ago and just hate it here. It depends on the kind of place you like. SA is too slow and behind the times for my preference.
